Ok first I just wanted to say that I played with my Speed the first time yesterday and WOW, totally awe-inspiring, freaking fast. I totally loved it.

Now, I was amazed to see my awesome Speed with two CP volumizers and max flo shoot so very inconsistent. I read Casedogg's thread about sanding the volumizer(s) but I dont know if I want to do that just yet. But I was getting 268,275,263,291,279 on it and I just van't have that out of such an awesome gun (I can deal with it oin a stock cocker, for instance) and I need to know if theres anything i should/need to do to help my consistency get to these awesome +-2's that people have been bosting!

What tank are you using? Also, try to clean out your minireg and that might help. Other than that just change some of your o-rings.
If all else fails rebuild your minireg.

I would first take off both volumizers and see if the problem is related to them. Put on the left (valve) then check consistency. Then do the same with the right volumizer.
If this doesn't help start cleaning/rebuilding things.

yeah, try it stock, no volumizers, and c what u get. if u get good consistency then, then the volumizer might need sanding. might be ur mini reg needs breaking in.

:dito: also guns take time to break in... my Ir3 took a few cases and then I started getting +- 1 or 0 on the chrono.

Yea I'll shoot a few cases, see if that helps to brewak it in. Also today I tried taking off one volumizer on each side and the consistency wasn't helped. I put it back to stock (without volumizers) and the consistency was a little better, but not much, like 268,258,273, so I dunno.

I just got my speed and i'm having the same problem as Tha clipse. I dont have any volumizers, just stock, but im having the same inconsistency. I'm also getting a little bit of FSDO, i'm using preset pmi 68 4500 and Thor reg set at 450. I've increased my dwell, my input pressure, and done everything else that i've read about but still getting inconsistency. I'm also getting massive velocity drop when shooting fast. Anyone else have any suggestions? Thanks.

uh, messing with your gun wont fix consistency if you have inconsistent/crappy paint, or a poor paint/barrel match. fix those problems first, then start tearing apart the LPR or whatever was suggested in these posts that I didn't read.

I filed down my volumizer and the gun smoothed out like 284,290,282,289 now I just added a Angel AIR and backed the mini reg out flush and I adjust the velocity with my tank out put and at around 200 psi I'll shoot 290,290,291,290 with no drop off.Works killer I ran 5 cases through my speed this weekend and she threw down some paint with no breaks

ok, i read in a thread that baking out ur mini reg won't work as good as gutting it. is this true? or do u get the same effect when gutting it compared to just backing it out.

I may be wrong but I don't see a difference......when you back it out the minireg is not regulating the air at all, correct? As long as the minireg is not limiting the air at all it should be the same. If not then I will be gutting my minireg because I have an '03 conquest.

There are still parts in there like seals, shims, balls and other items that I would think could have an affect on the air flow. Just to be safe, I would just gut it all out.

isn't gutting it unreversable?

nop, just make sure to keep the parts you take out and not to destroy or ruin any of them.

so gutting it just bassically turns the reg into an empty tube? no parts inside?

Yes that is correct.

Have you had time to break it in yet? They usually do quite a bit better after the break in process, try that and then post again.

No I havent really let it break in yet, but still I don't think I should be getting 257,257,305,248,248,310 from EVEN a new Speed.

Also, what consistency are you guys getting from your Speeds new or old?

I get jump like 10 +/- but sometimes its only 2 +/- and i use the same paint so i think i have to break mine in

Hmmm ok that makes me feel a little better.

nop, just make sure to keep the parts you take out and not to destroy or ruin any of them.

UM, aren't you people forgetting that there is always a bleed hole in a regulator, if you gut it it will leak from there...

if u are having inconsitancy problems, it is due to all your internal grease. u said u played with it once, i had the same prob. first totaly dismantal your gun and clean it. then re-lube it with love juice. this will totaly solve all your inconsitant velocity problems "TRUST ME"!!!!! :patriot:
