View Full Version : A Q to Frazer/other cert. Tech about SENSi

How does the SENSi self-calibration programming work? Not asking for any real program code, but about a few particulars regarding its self-calibration.

Does the sensor calibrate with the first 7 balls detected or the first 7 trigger pulls, even if there is no paint in the marker?

Does the sensor "re-calibrate" itself during use to adjust with velocity/dwell adjustments, altering the strength of the marker "kick"?

Will turning marker or SENSi off/on reset the calibration, re-calibrating itself every time at the pre-game chrono?

If not, will reseting the board with the pushbutton under the grips reset the calibration, if there is reason to suspect it has gone sour? For example, random hangups/chopping with a mechanically intact sensor element and rod, no dirt/paint in SENSi assembly?

Thanks for any info that's not classified and free to share :)

those are the best SENSi Q's I've ever heard, and I will be awaiting some good answers.

I'm not a tech, but I can answer some of those, You want me to post? I don't think there are any speed certified tech's that browse here regularly, so a timely response isn't probable.

Answer Skel, I want to know the answers too.

yes, use your age and wisdom to give us a though out, detailed answer.

The marker will calibrate with the first ~7 balls fired.

The marker will not re-calibrate until you turn the marker off/on again. The sensi doesn't adjust the kick of the marker. I'm not too sure what you mean on this question.

Yes. You will have to re-calibrate the marker after everytime the marker is turned off.

"resetting" the board will only return the marker to the factory defaults.

Hope I helped.

you didn't answer one of his questions

I will not willingly give away my birthdate, it has to be guessed by members here.

Thanks for the information. I don't remember posting a question like that ("skel: how old are you?") though, could you give a link to the original post, dark2k2LCD?

What I meant with this: Does the sensor "re-calibrate" itself during use to adjust with velocity/dwell adjustments, altering the strength of the marker "kick"?

is that when you adjust your velocity, the marker's amount of kick will change. Not much, but some... Does the sensi adjust itself to the changed kick or is it a good idea to boot up the marker again just to be sure?

Thanks for the info!

so after every time you turn the marker on and off, you have to test shot seven times slowly by just shooting seven times? Or do you have to do something different.

Keep it in the chat section guys.

Osmoosi: You have some great questions. True, I had nothing to do with any programming on the Speed board, but I'm pretty sure that once it's calibrated, the settings never change until you turn the marker off/on. Hopefully a "certified" tech can give us a definite answer. I'm not god  I highly doubt any will post, so if you are destined to know, I suggest emailing Eric at angel-parts or another sponsor.

EDIT/ UPDATE: I emailed Frazer, and I will post his reply as soon as I get it. I'm just as curious as you are.

so do we turn it off after each game or just make sure we have a condom on?

If you switch paint i would recomend turning it off. It doesnt relaly matter otherwise though as long as you dont hit the trigger. You still have to have a pregrame chrono and it can calibrate then.

I would HIGHLY recommend that you turn the marker off after play. The opto trigger is very sensitive and it's a pain in the rear to clean your barrel, especially when it could've been avoided.

Official Word from frazer, he basically said what I said.

The information gathered for the speed display is taken from actual trigger pulls.

The gun needs to have paint in it to calibrate, no paint in means no calibration.

Once calibrated the gun has no need to keep re calibrating.

The gun will remain calibrated until you switch the gun off or press the internal button located at the base of the board and do a default reset.

All the best,
Frazer Colley,

Thanks for the info. Should've E-mailed the F man in the first place...

About switching on/off between games: Personally, I feel more comfortable and secure for me and the people around me if the marker's got more than one security device. The barrelcondom is always good to keep on outside the field (at least in tournaments there are penalty points involved), and keeping the marker off or safe. Speed doesn't have a Safe though, but switches on rather quick.

Having the marker chrono with the 7 first shots when turned on sounds good. It'll recalibrate without reseting the board, and you probably have to shoot about 6-10 balls on the chrono station before a game.

yeah I wasn't really serious about leaving it on, cuz then you would always be cleaning out the condom. Anyways, it just seems a little much to shoot like 7 balls before each rec game. Oh well I guess I will spend a lot of time showing off my velocity consistancy. (come to think about it I will probably shoot about 30 or so just showing off, lol)
