06-23-2003, 08:27 PM
lube it with what?and how often?
AH! No! I hope he's messing with you, You do not need to lubricate the bolt, it's self lubing Delrin.

yea....but then why doe impys and timmys use dow 33 and stuff wehn they are delrin? Im confused here...

yep, i heard it swells and will get stuck if you oil it, just dont mess with it and you will be fine
No WDP made guns, so far, need to have their bolts oiled/greased.

Impy bolt stock are not delrin they are aluminum(sp it is late) with 2 orings on them, so they need to be lubed. Most impys now either come with delrin bolt (all custom impys do i can think of) or have had a delrin bolt added to it so they no longer need to lube it.
Lubeing delrin is mucho mucho bad. the bolt can sweet so much that it may even become stuck in the breach and be very hard to get out. and thus pissing you off and messing up your bolt.

mine has marks and scratches on it and works fine. I also have noticed some grinding away where the bolt pin rubs in the breach. Is this normal?

i have some little scrathes on my bolt and in the breech...is this normal?

Yes. The bolt can be sanded (get 800 grit sandpaper) and sand those marks out. Don't get overzealous or you will loose some efficiency because of looseness of fit.
The scratches are from dirt getting into your breech and rubbing between the bolt and the breech. My LCD is basically all bare aluminum now and I haven't noticed a difference in pefrormance.

It's actually a good thing that your delrin is getting scratched... think of the alternative, it could be your breech.
A bolt is a lot cheaper and easier to replace than a breach. So don't sweat it if your delrin is getting worn down over a long period of time. It's meant to take the beating and leave your breech in good shape.
I use Dow on my Shocker delrin all the time and I haven't had a problem with it yet... Maybe I should just stop lubing it huh.
I lubed up my Speed bolt once last weekend too, I hope it'll be ait.

that sux is there a way to keep it from wearing so deep?
paintballaholick

punkd
06-24-2003, 01:28 PM
i wouldnt worry about it so much, yes you want your knew speed to always look purddy, so did i but dont denie the enevibility.
and the bolt basicly all i do is if i chop take it out whipe off all the paint make sure it looks nice and go on. i have heard rubbing alchool is bad for it too but once in awile i put like a drop of that on rub it around and call it good. and they are right NO LUBE.

So basically no touchy the bolt unless it's a piece of cloth wiping off paint... And paintballaholick I just wouldn't worry about it wearing down the bolt/breach, like punkd said, its inevitable that it will happen.

I and a bunch of people i know use water to clean their bolts. i have had no swelling with it whatsoever... It just as loose as it was out of the box. I just make sure to clean the water off right after im done.

ya dont lube it or it swell and get stuck and u will need a new bolt. Just put some drops of love juice in the hole in the breach.
angel2k3boy
06-27-2003, 08:19 PM
ok so some one tell me is it ok to rinse in h20
Water will make it SWELL. All you have to do is wipe the bolt down with a cloth.
Badger
06-27-2003, 11:57 PM
why must the bolt be so clean? Just wipe with a cloth to get off the paint

also, I bought a shocktech bolt (white)and What does it improve?, and no water?
Ouch, put the stock bolt back in. You're only asking for problems with the shocktech bolt.

06-28-2003, 08:20 AM
I really like the shocktech lcd bolt.... but anyways if water makes it swell, lots of people i know must have problem, but we don't. I water my bolt after every time i use it and its just as loose as it was the first day I got it.
Badger

while I have never seen a bolt swell from water, I still would not do it, there is just no need to. I bet if you left it wet it would swell for sure.
angel2k3boy
06-28-2003, 07:08 PM
why is the shocktech bolt bad skel? and crypt, what did it improve on your angel?

I didn't notice anything bad, and it just seemed to preform better than stock. I would get R11 if you could, but they aren't being made anymore.
Badger
06-28-2003, 11:11 PM
the R11 is great, and the speed's stock bolt is an exact copy only with a bigger air passage so why change it? I can't think of any other bolt that would be better.

it seems silly that the bolt cant get any sort of liquid on it at all. After all, if that were the case, any chop would result in the bolt swelling. Also, when you put oil in the ASA, it cycles through the gun, and ultimately makes its way to the bolt. I have a feeling that it's not going to hurt the bolt to get it wet, but i dont have chopping problems, so my clean bolt doesnt need to be soaked.

I have put water on my bolt and dry it off after. Then cycle the gun so the air blows the rest of water out. No swelling.

i was thinking the exact same thing, after all, paint is partially made of water, i highly doubt water would make it swell
Don't soak the bolt in water, just use a wet rag to get off any paint on there. If there's oil on the bolt, use some sort of soft cleaning agent, wipe it off, then wipe it off with water. Don't put it back in the marker right away.
As for the shocktech bolt, there have been many complaints with them. Sharp points on the face of the bolt causing paint to explode, bolt pins breaking off. Overall it's not a good bolt anyways. There are better bolts for the money.
