View Full Version : Ugh. Speed not shooting over 235

Hey,

I took my speed out for a whirl this weekend, I'd guess that i've put about 1 3/4 cases through it now. First I started to get FSDO (I've charged the battery for maybe 12 hours now), then the gun wouldn't shoot over 200 no matter what I did (Up Conquest output to 600, open up the minireg all the way, tried a sidewinder reg as well). So then I take it over to the resident Angel expert, and he adds two shims to the LPR and bingo, no more problem.

It then occured again after maybe a bag of paint, we tried doing the same thing but nothing would work, we tried going through a majority of the gun (He had an Angel Toolkit), switched regs, etc. But the gun still won't shoot over 235 now, what is the problem? Right now it has 10 LPR shims, I tried calling Warped LA and Predator when I got home but no one is open atm.

What's wrong? I've done everything prescribed to me, both by the manual, the resident Angel expert, and AOG. I'm just not seeing what is wrong, the paint is fresh Severe Competition, I tried some fresh Zap and RP to no avail.

Let me know, Thanks.

Great job turning the mini-reg all the way out. Invest in a new ram.

grease the ram

what is your lpr at ? (guage) and Dwell too
try to turn the dwell up cuz maybe the hammer isn't hitting the
valve pin hard enough.

1. grease ram
2. raise dwell by 1 (then 2 if it doesn't work)

tell us how that goes...

Yeah, definatly take the 10 shims out of your LPR, because you could harm your solenoid.

Make sure that the ram is propley adjusted and the ball detents are not too tight, as if the are, they could cause some resistence against the bolt.

10 shims? jesus all you genius' had to do is bump the dwell up

First take all those shims out. Adjust the LPR to 85 psi. Make sure it recharges FAST and doesn't creep. If that is working fine you will bump up the dwell by 2. Now go chrono. If it still is low - bump the dwell up again. If it still is low - I would clean and regrease the ram, set the hammer position, and clean/grease the mini-reg

Oh, and im not totally sure but i dont think the speeds LPR should be at 85. Thats the IR3. I think the speed is supposed to be at like 65.

the speed lpr cannot work well at 65-60 unless the dwell is bumped up a little. and some sort of volumizers are used.

Speed's LPR should be at 82psi. Fishsticks, any updates? The people above pretty much covered everything.

why 82?

cause it just is. Thats the number that makes it work most efficiantly and smoothly.

i think it is smoother with less pressure. cuz mine is hella smooth (nokick!)

Mine was doing the same. PUT IT BACK to STOCK and your dwell should be at 8 from the factory. PUT it to 9 or 10.

I was shooting low 230's with a dwell at 8 , the only change I made was putting the dwell to 10, it was then shooting 360's. This was with my Angel Air at 800 and mini reg turned almost all the way out.

Now, I can shoot 285, with the AIR at 350.

Go ahead and put your LPR that low, don't bother posting here asking why you're getting shootdown.......
