The first time I removed the gate feed off my IR3 to clean it, it was locked down tight. I finally inserted the longest drill bit I had (wrapped with electricians tape to protect the surfaces) and tapped the end of the drill bit with a hammer until it became loose. I always lubricate the treads after taking it apart now. I have just installed a Halo B and removed the gate. Works great unless I run out of balls in the hopper and loose spring tension.

I'm not quite clear on where you are putting the drill bit.....the gated feed comes off fine, I want to take the entire neck outta the marker. I have a clamping neck I want to put on!

ok I will tell you right now do not force off your speeds feed neck like that. they are coming from the factory with red locktite on them which is permanent. several people have stripped out the feed neck threads in the body by doing it the wrong way. The only safe way to do it is to heat up the gun body and feed neck untill the loctite weakens enough to let you unscrew the neck with a strap wrench. some people have had luck heating it with a hair dryer. However, the hair dryer is not always enough and you may still cause damage to the threads. Also don't use a ligher unless you wanna mess up the annodizing on the gun. I am having the angel guy remove my feedneck for me the right way before he ships it to me. I don't have the proper tool to heat it up enough at home ('cept for the risky hair dryer) so better let someone who knows what they are doing remove it.
If you don't wanna send it in, then use a hair dryer or heat gun along with a strap wrench, but be careful and heat it up really hot and don't use too much force.......if you damage the threading on the gun you could have to get a new body or at best, have to have it re threaded and custom feed necks made. good luck.......and next time do a search, since this IS a major :repost:

I removed mine farely easily. Here's how I did it: Take out the ball detents (just to make sure they don't get messed up). I took a ziplock freezer bag, and stuck in down into the feedneck (enough to get past the bottom of it, almost on top of the sensi). Poured ALMOST boiling hot water into it (to loosen the locktite) and let it sit for almost 10 minutes. Then just took a rubber strap wrench to it and it twisted off no problem.

Here is the easiest way I think... I've done it to several IR3's and Speeds already.

Put loader in the gated feed... has to be one that has a tight fit. Turn it to the right to lock the top half in place... Then using the hopper as leverage.. turn the it to the left. Before you get the feed fully off.. take off the hopper or else it will be hard to get the feed off the hopper without using the gun as leverage.

I put the gun between my legs .. my legs keep it in place... Place my left hand around the feed neck... while my right hand on the loader.... then using both hands.. turn the loader and the feed neck to the left.

It's all about leverage.

yeah, definitely dont just try to get it off with force, my friend did that........

yes, he got the feed neck off, but he also messed up the threads, had to send his gun to england, and hasnt had his speed for about two months now, sounds like fun eh?

I just removed everything (we played a tourny in the rain...) and I am sending the main body to badlands to let them remove the neck for me. So if they screw it up, they can just send me a new body....
