Just sold my Rat Impulse.

Now should I get a Speed or wait for the 03 Shocker.

Also, should I buy the gun for $850 w/o lifetime or $950 with lifetime warranty. Im not too sure if I will need it, are Angels hard to maintain?? Im the type of person that takes a marker apart and tries to learn about each and every piece...

If your gonna take apart your gun once you get it, definately get the lifetime warranty. IMO dont take appart your gun unless there a problem. Usually you screw up stuff, well atleast i do :)

And about choosing between the Speed or the new Shocker, its all personal preference. If someone you know has one, ask him/her to let you play a few games with it. If you like it, get it. If you want to wait till the shocker comes out, go ahead. What ever floats your boat.:sshh:

I was going to get a Shocker before I bought my Speed and I'm glad I went with the Speed. The whole sales pitch about the Shocker is it's Closed bolt like the old shocker but it's not.The shocker is now an open bolt blow forward. And another thing is the Shocker MROF is 14bps.14bps is just cruising for the Speed.BUY THE SPEED!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My buddie owns a shop and he's a smart parts dealer and 20bps is what the smart parts nerve is supose to do but the shocker is 14 that's what smart parts says now. They also said the gun was going to be closed bolt, but while they were making all these predictions they had all kinds of problems with the gun so that's when they changed it over to open bolt. The shocker was finished last summer and it's still not out that's not very reassuring. If you watch William Shatners Spplat attack there is a guy runnig around on the field playing with one and it was filmed last august.

yeah I have never been impressed with shockers, A couple years ago before I got out of the sport (back into it now) I had a cocker and every time I went to the field there were 5 or six people trying to get their shocker's problems worked out at the chrony, Yet they still all were dead set that the shocker was the best. Now they redesigned the gun so it really isn't a shocker anymore but it is still called the shocker.....WTF??? Anyways I bought a speed instead of an Xmag because I dod't want to wait months to get one and also the space frame is so much more comfy than a crappy 45. Same reasons why I don't want a shocker. To play tight you have to put mad strain on your wrist with a 45.

Badger, shockers never have problems :) i had a 99' s/f for bout a year or so and never once had any problem except maybe an o-ring or too.

And about them redesigning it and still calling it a shocker, whats wrong with that?

Let's redesign the angel and make it shoot and operate the same as a excalibur and still call it an angel......right, totaly different gun.

Check out my thread in the General paintball section, all the available shocker information is in there. The Philadelphia Americans played with the new shocker at the PSP Chicago event, which is still going on. It's open bolt, has a maximum rate of fire of 20bps, magno trigger, 750 base, 950 with Vision. Maximum rate of fire might be different without Vision, I'm not sure. There are 2 videos in my thread too.

SpynX if you never had a problem then you were lucky. All I know is that two or three years ago, my observations were that shocker owners spent a lot of time in the staging area trying to fix the guns......it would not have been just an isolated incident since I noticed this with most of the shocker owners. Granted the old style shocker is a great gun (when working perfect and if you can get over running around with a shoebox in your hands) but the downsides have always kept me away from it. For me it has always been cocker or angel and I have rarely seen problems with either, cept when people try to work on the cocker and don't know what they are doin.

I've got a 2000 Shocker and I bought it new in 2000 and I have had at leat 200,000 balls through it and it never broke one ball or gave me any problems.I played paintball up in Sacramento today and I let my boy use my shocker and he was loving it.Oh yah, the movie I was talking about you have to buy it and I heard the 14bps from my buddie who is a smart parts dealer and he heard it from there techs.Whatever, you buy whatever gun you want, your the one who has to be happy with it,screw what anybody else thinks. It's alot of money either way you go, so do your homework and play with both guns before you decide, don't go off the magazine adds because they just want to sell.
