i am needing a new set up for my new gun. I was thinking of trying macro line, and was wondering how much macro line is different from braided hose, better or worse? and what comes with it, how much and such. thanks for any help. (i need a new asa also so what would be good.)

Macro line is easily changeable, as it uses plastic hose that slips into metal connectors. You can disonnect your hose at will for oiling or transporting, which is quite conveinient. However, the more you remove the macro line from it's fitting, the more worn the end gets, and it will eventually start leaking and need replacement. Steel braided hose is bigger, uglier, bulkier, and unless you have a quick disconnect (which only makes it bigger, uglier and bulkier) it's a pain to take off for oiling and transporting. However, steel braided is more durable and will seldom leak. Me, I went with Macro line for the convienience of removal and looks, but it's really up to you which one you go with.

I have a macroline...llike dr.strangelove said they get worn and leak..an sometimes if you move it around it will have a little leak and you have to move the line back and forth for it to stop which is a pain but i like it...looks nicer

and cheaper i think ill go with the macroline, should i use teflon to seal the connectors? or will just screwing it in work fine? thanks

Do NOT use teflon on your fittings. I've seen too many people get teflon sucked into their reg (both the mini reg, and their tank reg). Use low strength (blue) locktite.

i hate braided hoses, yea they last longer, but not if one of the metal wires come loose, they'll cut a hole in your arm, they're also a pain in the ass to attach and take off, also ugly as hell

Ya and if your macro line ever breaks its cheap to replace. I got 2 feet for 2 bucks at mo's. I should have enough for a while.

Nope, SmartLCD, not me. Where can you play digital paintball? I'd like to give that a try sometime.

definately go macroline... not because of looks or ease of taking it off and putting it on... but because it saved my angels life... once i was at a big game and i didnt kno that my hyperflow tank reg was busted and sending waaay ttoo much pressure to my gun.. so i gassed up and 2 minutes later BOOOOOM the macroline burst.... anyway i went thru 3 macrolines that daybefore i realized it was my tank reg busted so i just changed to my old 68/3000 crossfire tank... but the point is that the macroline acts as a safety device... id much rather have a $.250 piece of host burst and just install another one rather then have a steel braided hose hold the pressure so the excess pressure goes into my gun and blows up my internals.... besides if they break u can always get a foot long piece for like $2.50... ill never use a steel braided host i swear by my macroline :)

I always use teflon on the fitting threads. I'm sure its fine as long as you don't go overboard on it. I take a pice, fold it in half lengthwise, and put it on the threads a litttle away from the air opening. Haven't had a problem yet.

oooo and one more thing... i dont kno how flexibility compares between the two... but macrolines are much lighter and smaller if you look at the elbow pieces of the two.... i still say macroline takes it

aslo, the steel braid is ALWAYS too big. and because its not very felaxable, it put a ton of pressure on the drop/asa. when i used steelbraid, i went through 3 dropforwards, because when you tried to take the tank off, even eith no air, the twisted steel braid would break the asa from the drop.

Now for the sole reason i absolutly HATE steel braid. the ends are made of this cheap soft metal, so if you want to take it out, you'll strip the little hexagon into a circle. the you wont even be able use pressure wrenches to take it off. i even took a file and filed it back into a haxagon shape, and it stripped immedialy. i had to buy another regulator and asa!!!

i also had that problem with it dark, they strip very very easily

i took my freinds spyder and converted into a frikin teflon gun... lol so many leakss...

yeah man, for crappy guns that leak, teflon and super glue do wonders

personally, i still like steel braided hose cuz its more durable and lasts longer, and it never leaks.

doesnt durable imply that it lasts longer?

it is stronger, therefore the pressure does less damage to it. And also, to me, steel braided is a lot more flexible than macroline

that is where the problem lies grasshopper, the pressure does less damage to the hose thus damaging your gun, which is a bad bad thing, and how in the world can a steel braided hose be more flexible than a macro line to you? it might seem that way because they are always longer thus bending easyer, but they will also be more in the way since you cant cut it like a macro line, but hey preference always count, you could also try a micro line, those are veyr bendable and look cool

whats the difference inbetween a macro line and micro line... i noe micro means small, but plz expand my knowledge!

yup thats basically it.. the micro line is thinner/ skinnier and the flow hole in the middle is smaller... also it requires smaller fittings to connect to the gun.... i still say macroline theres no point in microlines i think theyre the same as macrolines but macrolines are stronger and have bigger flow holes
