i am going to be getting a speed. i have a preset PMI 68/45 tank. do i NEED to get an adjustable regualtor? is in necessary or can i just raise my dwell? will a regular screw in on/off bottom line ASA work for me? will volumizers help in adjustment?

There is no need to make any changes. The in-line regulator on the Speed will work with your peset tank.

i bought my speed yesterday and i have a 68/4500 PE tank and its shoots great. All i had to do was screw in the tank and hit the on switch and i was ready to roll. I am too going to buy a on/off and i dont think it changes a thing if thats what your worried about.

Preset tanks work well, sometimes you may have to mess with the dwell as per Fraser's advice. Run a search.

I would recommend the CP on/off with the rail for your speed.
Get the tank output on a gauge, if it is greater than 900 psi I wouldn't recommend it.
You can take out some shims from the reg, and drop the output pressure of the pure energy to something more suitable. Preferably around 500 psi would be great.
On the rail, I would recommend giving cobra a call, they have a great rail mount.

I dropped exactly the same tank as you are going to on my Speed and I had no problems. The Velocity was alittle high but was easily adjusted to 285 f.p.s. and I could even have gone lower.
I did have some poor consistency at first, about 15 f.p.s. variances but by the end of the first day the variance had dropped to 4 f.p.s. - maybe just a "running-in" period.

my friend's speed was running the old pmi preset tank set at 850 and with a few adjustments to the reg and some changes to the dwell to make it a little easier on paint, it ran extremely well. It should only take a few minutes and a chrono to get it right
