what buttons are you talking about?
the multicolored buttons in the grip frame that can be replaced with either CP or Cobra buttons?
the 2 buttons at the bottom of the board for changing menus internally, or the 3 buttons on the side of the board that the selector buttons would push against (please tell me you didn't open the board in an attempt to modify something and some of these buttons fell out)

this has the words disaster written all over it... if he wants to get those things back in all he has to do is place the multi colored buttons back into the frame (the plastic thing that shows the light on the rear of the frame as well), make sure they are not sliding out, they must be in all the way... then throw your board back in making sure the leaf spring/switch clears and falls behind the trigger then screw that bad boy in with 2 screws... thats all...

I'm assuming that you've got the board out. Put the buttons in their place (including the COPS light), then angle the board in, you'll probably have to push the leaf spring for the trigger into the board a little bit maybe even move the trigger some. It shouldn't be hard, the board should drop right in.

If anything, adjust the trigger for a lot of forward slack, that should give you some room.
Tilt the marker to the rear, so that gravity holds the buttons down (if necessary, some buttons are very loose) If not disreguard.
Insert the top of the board in first, (make sure to depress the trigger leaf spring), then the rear should just drop in.
