Just encoded our second speed video. Finally found an EvoII to use (since my EvoII is off being upgraded). I recommend the divx version, but if you don't have the divx codec then get the regular AVI.

enjoy

yeah its a little stuffed animal at the top of that post. we were aiming at it the whole time and I was personally very impressed with the accuracy. But that could have something to do with the fact that I use ultralights.

yeah...

Sounds like you downloaded the divx version. Either download the divx codec at www.divx.com or download the regular AVI version of the video (second link).

nice video mike....i shot my teammates speed yesterday wit a egg2...(no y board)...i outshoot it a couple times..pinch a couple balls..also,do u have a pmi thor regulartor on their..i could'nt tell

Tempest261

You shouldn't be outshooting your evo II with sensi on unless the sensor isn't working correctly.

No thor- just a crossfire 4500/850/68 w/ an On-off and a sidewinder regulator (since the 850 is too much for the mini reg).

Unless he's on a mac - neither of your files work on a Mac using Windows Media or Quicktime as the player - they both produce sound but no video. Best bet for cross platform compatibility is a QuickTime file...

Tempest261
05-27-2003, 02:43 PM
they have versions of the divx codec for mac.

but anyway- quicktime is utter crap. I will never encode video in that ****ty ass format if I can help it.

Re QuickTime - Your joking right? You obviously don't work with video on a daily basis...

Well format opinions aside, you are right, there is a Divx codec for the mac, and if being on a mac is his problem, downloading that will be the simplest solution...

Tempest261

Well at CNN I've never see anyone encode a single piece of video in quicktime for any purpose. All formats we work with are usually MPEG-2 and 1.

And in my experience, quicktime video easily picks up artificats and only compresses well at extremely low framerates. It's crap. MPEG-4 is the way to go.

Benfrain

Mike, MPEG-4 is the basis for QuickTime 6?????? It's the first architecture to actively embrace MPEG-4!!

I think you are confusing architectures with codecs....

However, it's a good video, which with the Divx codec installed plays fine in QuickTime 6!

Tempest261
05-27-2003, 03:18 PM
well then yeah I am confusing them. Quicktime is always listed as a codec in the programs I use.

But if you're touting quicktime as a good player, then you're looking at it from the point of view of a mac user. On a PC, it's hideously unstable.

Next video will feature an even faster hopper (halo B or Y-board Evo2), LP Maxflo 88 Stubby, and Kapp Volumizer (we're gonna see how low we can get this thing)

Expect to see that within the next 3 weeks.
