would my brand new (not even here yet, just ordered it) 68/45, 800preset tank be ok to use with the speed? yes or no, why and why not?
Frazer from WDP has stated that any input pressure below 900psi will work with the speed, however you might not be able to turn the gun to far under 300fps. Plus you won't have the ability to run the speed at a very low pressure without a lower pressure input from the tank

errm... i could prolly just sell the preset thats on its way to my house and get a LOW-P preset. (350psi or so)
Then you rish possible starving your speed, the ideal pressure I believe is said to be 600psi, I bought a THOR regulator to regulate my 800psi tank for optimal performance

rish? i thought this thing was sposed to run off like 300 from tank. i dont want a high pressure gun. 600 isnt low enough for me.
The gun can run low pressure, the minireg will lower the pressure coming in from the tank, plus you'll need a volumizer for true low pressure

hmm i suppose im considering buying one.. trix is prolly my first option right now though....

i wount risk it with a 800 psi tank , you can get some tanks with a 400 psi output though

it will work just not perfectly.

It doesnt matter what input you have coming out of the tank (to a certan extent beacuse if you go high enough -ex 1000pso you might blow up you mini reg) because THERE IS A REGULATOR ON YOUR GUN!!!!! Even though you tank is putting out 800psi, your regulator cuts that pressure down to the (we will say) 240spi that your gun properly runs on. In theory you could have a 5000psi out (assuming your minireg didnt explode) and it would still work. If you go low such as a 300psi output from the tank, when you shoot fast you will notice dropoff because the air cannot get out of the tank fast enough.
conclusion: use your 800psi tank because the minireg is there to REGULATE and you just turn the minireg down to whatever pressure you want to run (200-300 whatever)

Oh yea and pray tell....what are we risking when we run a 800psi tank??? And how would it not run perfectly????
On low output tanks there is a builtin reg on the tank. On angels there is a builtin reg on the gun....I wonder why that is?

the whole idea of not being able to use high output tanks efficiently is that the minireg cannot handle that kind of pressure, due to the fact that the Speed is a Low Pressure gun....you can use a 800psi Preset...but you are not going to be able to drop the pressure low enough to get your gun shooting below 300fps...

its because of a two-fold dillema - (1) presets do have slighty varying outputs depending on how much air hey have in them and it could be putting out over 900psi if its freshly filled, and (2) the new minireg, to put it bluntly, sucks. WDP blew it here IMO...

like i said i wouldnt risk it better to spend a little more and be safe than be cheap and sorry that you were

:puzzled: So, get a new reg and you'd be fine?

yes, then it will work for sure. PMI THOR is an easy one to get, another choice is the center-flag doolie. you *CAN* use it without, but if your preset isnt well regulated, then ur velocity will be very high, and u might have trouble keeping it under 280.

I ran a preset this weekend cause I am waiting for my angel air and didn't have a problem.. At first it I was having a problem getting my velocity down with the reg turned all the way in.. Dwell was set at 3 lights so I lowered the dwell time and had to turn up the reg a hair to get it to 275.
