View Full Version : Quick Question on Trigger 'noise'

I assume this isn't an issue but I thought I might as well ask the experts here real quick. My A1 I just received has a 'louder' trigger as in it makes a light 'clanking' sound that sounds like metal on metal at the back end of it's travel.

I've adjusted the travel forward and back and this sound is there regardless.

It's not an issue and the trigger is very smooth to walk, but it's just a lot louder of a trigger noise than my Speed 05, or my old IR3 and LCD.

It won't make a bit of difference when firing live, but my wife gets more cranky when I walk the trigger in front of the TV. :)

well if its on and your eyes are turned off then its the noid. other then that id say open up the grip and see if its hitting something. It might be the magnet as well. yours could be a little strong.

That's funny, I thought the same thing. I think it's just inherent to the marker. When aired up you don't notice it, but it is definitely "clunky" when sitting there playing around with it. I actually hated it when I first got it. Coming from an invert mini with a delrin trigger installed to this, was a rude awakening, literally, lol.

Yeah, I mean with the gun completely turned off, it's a completely mechanical sound. Just a clank of metal on metal that's louder than the mechanical clank of any other angel I've had.

id remove the grip fram from the gun and play with it and see if its rubbing anything or hitting something. if it doesnt do it with it off and the trigger pull is real smoth it might jsut be the magnet. real good sign if somethings is not right would be scaring or meatal shown pitts. other then that i probly wouldnt worry.

I think it's normal. If the trigger is nice and smooth I would not trip.

yeah its normal. Its the set screws striking the body of the marker. I cut up a silicon cover from an ipod and gluded a small piece to the forward travel and aft-travel screws. It really helps with the noise issue your having. It makes the trigger seem smoother just because the clanking is gone and alot cushier....like wakling on clouds.

Thank ya, gonna drop a bit of liquid silicon gel on there, good plan.

I got some DAP silicon adhesive (tested it on another piece of metal first, it held).

I just touched a tiny bit on the tip of both set screws with a toothpick, let it dry and reassembled. 90% of the noise is gone, thanks again.

Glad to hear that it helped I will have to try the same thing. I know when i let peolpe get the feel of the trigger they alwasy as if it is normal. I then have to remind them that it is not hitting a micro switch to cushion the sound. And it is the set screws hittting the magnets and or the frame parts.
I am still waiting on my critical trigger to come in.

I'd love to hear your impressions on the critical. I keep eye'ing them but the 55.00 bucks is giving me heartburn, lol.

i have two a1's and always wondered by the triggers on each sounded so different...One was quiet as a mouse and the other newer one makes that clank against the frame.

now i know why!

i might try that silicone trick but it doesent really bother me enough to mess with it i dont think.

I got the trigger today and it is nie dust black and light.

It is not much ligher than the stock imo. But the feel is alot better/and lighter than the raguba style trigger. I had that on my a1 thanks to shibby for letting me use it for a while.I think the crtitcal feels like the VP trigger for the G7/G7 fly. I have not got to shoot paint with it on yet ,but when i do I will do a full post on it with some pics. :). It is set up just like the stock, but it does have a little side play in it. Also the rear magnet feels stronger as well.

So the million dollar question (or 55.00 dollar one at least, lol), do you feel it was worth the investment?

I've always loved the look of your marker. That trigger really looks like it has an aggressive curve to it. Is it really as comfortable as you say?

Just FYI on the 'trigger noise' varying from Angel 1 to Angel 1. After taking it apart to work on it there it was obvious why that would be the case. Depending on how you set the travel screws and the 'magnet power' screw for the return strength you will have either the magnet itself or a set screw hitting the main body at the end of the return. They are different shapes and therefore will sound different. With just the dot of silicon adhesive on there though both are very quiet.

That IS a nice looking trigger. I'm an absolute n00b at trigger walking though so I need to get down the basics and get my speed up before I ever try out other trigger options.
