View Full Version : Full auto!
Well, I'm having an interesting problem with my speed. It seems to have a mind of it's own. I put my Sensi mode on 2, start shooting, then it ( the gun) takes over. It just starts shooting full auto at around 18bps. Kinda cool, but not legal. Anyone have any suggestions? No, it's not trigger bounce, because I can take my finger completely off the trigger and it will still shoot.... so I guess it's full auto. I know Jason (spazspike) had this problem as well, or something similar to it. I read in another thread that someone's gun was still shooting with sensi 1, well, I'm getting that to. For any of you who don't know, sensi mode 1 has a no fire option. If a ball isn't detected in a window of opportunity, the gun won't fire. Hmmm Help me.

holy cow, sounds very interesting, haha.

It still might be the trigger. If you have it set very short, it could be pulling all on its own. But it sounds like you got a board problem.

man im not liking the sound of all this.... i have been hearing of TONS of problems with the speeds already and barely anybod has one. ive already heard of sensi not working, a first shot drop off case, broken ball detents, and now this. if it doesnt prove to be as reliable as my ir3 that i just sold im not even going to mess with it. im just going to sell it and buy another ir3 or timmy.
I'm talking, it will empty a whole hopper by itself. It's really weird. WDP's guns are posessed.....
Oh and, there's a leak around my asa, I re-greased the O-ring but it's still there. When I shoot a couple of times, it's not that bad of a leak. I also am getting first shot drop off because of this. Hmmm Sounds like some glitches to me....

its just trigger bounce, i got my gun from mo's and ron set up the trigger for me and brought me out back to empty a couple hoppers. you can set up the trigger to bounce without you touching it, after a couple pulls it will seem like its going full auto, was actually kinda fun to watch. just mess with your toe adjustment a little and it will fix it, or should atleast.
I don't think so dooks. The halo would slow down or something, the marker would stop shooting, a gap, then resume it's shooting. I highly doubt it was trigger bounce. I'll try and get it to do it again. I wasn't getting bounce like this with Sensi off. Speed owners: Try using all the Sensi modes and see if you notice any weird things, and please tell me what your dwell is at. Thanks.

mine did that and I just brought the TOE adjustment out a little bit and it stopped doing it. Very odd I have never heard of trigger bounce like that before. I will keep my eye on it and see in the long run whether it does it any more.
I like my current trigger setup, so I'd rather not mess with it. Can anyone help me with this?? Why is the asa leaking, I haven't even had it for a week?
Maybe the metal band in the opto board gets stuck or something?

is the sensi level adjustable??? on an up close pic of the display it says s-level. if so, maybe your sensi level is just too high and its picking up on the gun shooting??? correct me if im mistaken.

its just trigger bounce, turn your toe adj screw 1 full turn counter clockwise and you shouldnt have that problem anymore

All this talk about problems is making me scared. I am taking out a personal loan to buy a SPEED and AIR becuase I am sick of having gun problems, and angels are supposed to be reliable....
Ron, Why is my gun leaking already?? And what is factory Dwell setting?? I recieved my gun fully charged from angelparts, and I think they messed with the dwell.

hold the yellow button inside the grip frame until the light flashes and then your factory settings are restored

factory dwell is set at 8. where is it leaking from? almost all of the speeds i have recieved have had charged batterys

ron, my factory dwell was set up to 12 I think. (all green lights lit = 12?). The picture in the manual shows the green lights all lit as 12, and that's how mine was with factory settings.

my dwell was set at 12... wenn i bought the speed

It's leaking right around the 1 piece ASA/flash tank. Right at the top where it touches the main body. There is a square hole, and that's where the air is coming from. The marker is brand spankin new, so it's weird how it's leaking already. The O-ring appears to be fine, and I re-greased it. Anyone else have this problem?

The only air leaking issue I've had so far is when I'd chop a ball and the bolt would stick open. That REALLY sucks when you're in the middle of a game.
Try pushing a battle swab down your barrel to push it back when every time you go to move your hand down to push it in farther the air blows it back out. :pointandl
....maybe next time I'll try turning the tank off first.

There was talk on this thread about the "S-Level" indicator on the grip frame window... Can you adjust the sensitivity of the Sensi system?
ccornish
04-28-2003, 03:29 PM
Yes. It's an internal adjustment. I don't have my manual handy, else I'd give you the details.
There is no way to adjust SENSI levels on the speed. Remember the press release? One of the tech's here said it was Cops with FIXED settings.

Let me clarify, there are 4 or 5 preset levels for SENSI that you can choose from.
IMPerfection
04-28-2003, 04:57 PM
yes there are 4 sensi settings:
1 - High ROF for short strings with delay if no ball in chamber, but chance of chopping if ball doesnt fall within set delay time.
2 - Same ROF setting as 1 with firing delay until the ball is in the chamber.
3 - More consistent ROF for back player who would like to sustain long bursts, with delay if no ball in chamber, but chance of chopping a ball if ball doesnt fall within set delay time.
4 - Same ROF setting as 3 with firing delay until the ball is in the chamber.
5 - SENSI off.

just like you said sensi mode 1 is still letting you shoot. im getting that too. it will let me shoot pretty fast but not as fast as it is without sensi on. i havent tried mode 2 to see if it goes into full auto. does yours go full auto without air?? other than my sensi not working like the manual says it does, my speed as been flawless. no problems at all besides the sensi thing. it shoots incredibly fast compared to my opto ir3. its just amazing. as soon as this weird sensi bug is worked out, it will be an owning machine!!!!
Dry firing, I do not get the same "full auto" effect, nor do I get it without sensi on. It could just be trigger bounce I guess. I'm waiting until I hear more about it and until I play more games with her before I come to any conclusions.

i had the same full auto problem, it was my trigger it was set wrong, i reset it and my speed shot flawless

Well its good that these problems are being established now, the more they get known, the quicker new mods will be done to it you know? Stinks that it happened to you though... But thanks cuz' the future speed owners will have something thats nice and glitch free... so wil lyou hopefully... look into it and see what you get. very unusual.. the leak is definatly not too cool either... Wel ltoday i just reset mt Dark IR3 so i have no CYCLES and also no ID# on the board so were i nthe same boat... well yours is worse than mine but you know glitches and $***
Just to throw something else out that I found strange. When I first air up it sounds like I have a leak from the breach area but then it just quits and works fine. Just a little unnerving at first.
I did a little adjusting and got the trigger-bounce-full-auto for a bit. Kinda fun.

My IR3 has done this. I was able to bend the plate spring in such a way that it was JUSSSST right enough that if anything would touch it it would go off. Almost no movement. When I got out on the field, I pulled the trigger once and the thing sounded like a lawn mower. It shot at about 18 bps until I grabbed the trigger and pushed it forward enough to get it off of the plate spring. After that everyone around me was pissed so I removed the grip and bent it a little bit back ;)
I'm pretty sure that the TOE is allowing people to get to something similar with less effort.

Tempest, you'll actually find that the Speed trigger is a lot easier to set short and achieve a bounce. WDP has removed the trigger spring and appears to have made the opto-board actuator much more snappy.
Needless to say, I've found the speed trigger to live up to the name of the marker. It is arguably the best new feature!
I found it extremely easy to rip on my speed. I opened up my grip frame to look for a spring, but there was none to be found. After pestering spazspike, I sort of got it lighter, and that is when this crazy trigger bounce comes into play. I love my current trigger pull, and would rather not mess with it unless I absolutely have to. About that breech leak, I've heard of similar problems, check on your valve stem, I've heard some where defective.

wow! that's awesome. A couple weeks ago I was thinking about how the IR3 trigger could be improved and the number one thing that I would do would be to move spring tension from the vertical axis to the horizontal axis (so that it pushes straight back, like a timmy).
so how is trigger TENSION adjusted if there is no spring to work with?

could someone post some pics with the skin grips off? I want to see the back of the trigger.

Tempest... i rounded off the leaf switch on the opto trigger and gave it hella' mre tension now i can bounce like a bastard and rip like 16bps... so its tight... be careful thought cuz you break it you buy it and it isn't covered under warranty... so... what i did was take 2 needle nose pliers and bent the spring a tiny bit... it works sweet now. basically i turned the triangle part of the stitch to more of a rounded one... mostly just the thicker part that the trigger touches is now flater (rounded off) mad bounce, mad bounce...

Kriptic, what good does this "mad bounce" give you when most tournaments outlaw this mode of firing? I'd be hesitant to advise anyone to modify the leaf switch on the opto-board, especially considering it's already fine where it is.
At least on my speed, the opto-board has a much more forgiving feel to it versus that of the opto-board I had on my IR3. In addition, my opto-board leaf switch came with a light coat of grease on the side that responses to the trigger. Perhaps that is an influencing factor with the whole feel of the trigger pull.
As far as the trigger configuration, it's similar to the IR3 but with a bit of Intimidator style to it. There are still two set screws located on the top of the trigger, the front one which reduces the rear travel and the rear one that reduces the forward travel. A few quick adjustments of each gets the trigger pull extremely short. The TOE screw (located directly in the middle) is more for fine tuning the actual actuation of the leaf switch on the opto-board and it's what people are using to create a 'bouncing' effect.

If I remember correctly, it was "capnut" (or was it someone else) who made his own "TOE" adjustment on his IR3, just by drilling and tapping a horizontal hole in the trigger. If I remember right, he hit 19 bps with the optical board.
But guys- thanks for the speed info. I just sold my IR3 (I'm already starting to regret it though.. it was such a good gun) but I might get a speed down the road.
I also wouldn't suggest modifying your leaf. Does anyone else have the same leak I do??
