Ok, I was wondering if there was anyone on here who does work with aluminum and who could do a custom piece for me. I have gone through two eye covers in the last week. The stock one broke when I was trying to put it on. I was lucky and got one of the last 3 piece sets from paintballgear.com, but when I got it the arms were bent all the way in and touching each other. I tried to flex them out to slide it on but they snapped right off. I would be willing to pay to have someone make me a aluminum version of the 3 piece eye cover. It could work and I imagine that it would not be all that expensive to do. That is the only thing that I have had a problem with with my A1. Everything else about it is amazing. I even made some guys who use Egos think about changing over .

Well I don't know exactly what you did to bend the 3pc arms out, but you did too much of it, whatever it was lol. Besides: aluminum covers will just scratch the §§§§ out of your gun,

I had to bend the arms outward just to get it to slide onto the gun. It is not like they were aligned properly when I got it. They were touching each other. It is not a well made part of the gun. They could have done it a lot better. Other than that though, like I said, everything else about the gun is amazing. And if aluminum covers were made properly they would not scratch the gun, they would slide on and off easier than plastic, and it would be a lot stronger. There would not be a need to bend the arms in so that they push against the side of the gun, they would just have to sit there.

If you did metal 3 part covers is shoudlnt scratch the gun. yeah i had the same problem with the 3 part ones. i think they are crap. Bareley ben tthem and they broke like the old 1 peice eye covers. id stick with the gen 2 covers. they are only like what 5 bucks. thats not to bad. you can buy a couple pair and be good for a while. metal coves are a ways away. we have some fabercation shops in my area. maybe i can stop bu one and see whats up.

I'm pretty sure not even the a1 fly is having metal eye covers (I'm 99% certain, actually). And if APS didn't revise the detent covers (again), there is/should be nothing wrong with the 3pc eye covers.

no the fly wont have metal eye covers. the fact is yeah the 3pc may be good. in opinion i like the 1pc. 3pc is a good idea and yeah alot of people may have them and they may work. I dont like them i got a bad pair and they just diddnt seem good to me at all. some people are gonna get bad ones thats just how it goes. they are made in a mold and sometimes stuff made in a mold gets jacked up. thats just how it is. nothing is 100% perfect. if it was everyone would still be using the Nelspot 007. If you got a 3pc and they worked fine then good on ya. Sorry dont mean to rant. Anyways yeah they probly wont revise them. Not a need to. maybe need to revise the process how they make them. Ive order like 3 pair of them and they all just broke like it wassent nothing. the revised 1pc work fine. you brake them 5 bucks. no big.

They don't just sit there, that's the problem. They hold the pressure on the detents so that they work. Now, if you make "3-pc style" aluminum ones that have some sort of leaf spring or hinge spring on them to put pressure on the detents, that'd work. Be a bit more expensive, but people would pay 20 beans for eye covers they never had to replace again. If APS won't do it, send an email to NDZ...they love §§§§ like that.
But my one piece work great, just use the business card trick to take 'em off and have never had any problems.

I heard that. I like the 1pc. hell i use the product tag off my gloves. If you where to go metal though on the eye covers then your also probly gonna go through eyes alot more to. and those bastards arnt cheap. Thank god for my Pace Rework station.

you also have to keep in mind that WDP, will not make metal eye covers that would last forever, after all they are in this for one thing, correct...profit.

yes they are in it for profit but by your logic then they would make EVERY part consumable

gentlemen, the only part of the A1 that needs to be revised at this point is the damn ram to make it rebuildable.

I would agree with that for sure. You know it seems like every angel i have owned the biggest problem ive ever had with them is the ram. Seems like that fails more then any other part. If you look at most the threads seems like majority of them has something to do with the ram going out. weather it be user error or bad parts.

I still prefered the older style ball detents

I agree with you TGALLO.They need to go back to the Fly style ball detents. They are about a million times better.

I think a mix between the two would be nice. Don't get me wrong, I love fly style detents. But having the spring detents with a rubber end would be good. This would make it work just like the fly detents but they would be way gentler on paint and the bolt. It doesn't make sense that the g7 would have detent cutaways on the bolt and the a1 wouldn't. Albeit the finger detents are ridiculously flexible, the bolt pushing on them does not help their life expectancy.
