Hey guys,

2k1 Dark Angel LCD

The positive wire that runs to the vibrator in the grip broke loose when I was cleaning my gun. After I reassembled everything and turn the gun back on my LCD screen will not display -SAFE-. After the initial "all character display" the screen just goes blank. I can also hear a very faint high pitched noise.

I have the version 1 board so I want to try to avoid the $75 replacement cost. My question is: will the board function properly with the vide wire(s) disconnected? Or is that the reason my gun won't start up?

Thanks

BTW - I also disconnected the negative wire and tried to start it. That didn't work.

Although I know practically nothing about angels, I do know that the high pitched noise is caused by the LCD backlight.

You must have both connectors on, cuz with one off, you just opened the circuit, so this means, no power to travel around the board.

yea the high pitch noise is just the lcd, when i take the grip off i can hear mine doing it too and nothing's wrong with my gun

- Update -

DYE_Phreak, I was under the same impression about the open circuit, but the lcd was still lighting up so I figured that probably wasn't happening.

Well, I resoldered the wires and still no output on the lcd, looks like I'm going to have to resort to a new board. If anyone else has ideas or has experienced the same ( No readout on the LCD, but backlight constantly on) please let me know as it will be a few days before I send it in.

Thanks

sorry bro, well, it could be the LCDs dead, happens, Leavin out in the sun, and over use, just get a new board, lol.

Same exact symptom happened to my board except nothing happened to the vibe-motor wires, funny thing, the board was perfect the night before ... Sent it out to the AngelGuy and yes was shafted the $75 bucks (thanks WDP) ... But at least its replaced with a Version2 board so only $25 if it happens again, unless it happens in another 3 years and by then you will have to replace it with the version-3 board that costs $95 ... J/K LOL : )...
