yeah i dont see a big looking diff from the death stick and the stiffi. they dont even give you the specs on the deathstick. not sure its even worth looking at. better to just get a stiffi or sly.

Looks exactly like the Sly, even the backs look the same just shorter.

They claim it's swabbable though, I read about it in the news section in PBN.

well the sly is swabbable. to a degree. I got my sly and didnt know about the swabs. well someone told me that you shouldnt swab them. so i wrote sly and this was their reply.

"The best way to clean your barrel would be to use warm water and let it dry out then you can use either a squeegee or battle swab but just make sure that there is no dirt on them as this will scratch the inside of you barrel."

Most people will say you cant run a swab down them AT ALL. But hell my time with the sly you dont need a swab. you get paint in your barrel so what it clears out. as long as you dont get a chop in the breach your ok. if you do your screwed unless your on a really small field.

I have been using the Deathstix for over 12 months now and love them very accurate, light and hardy, My first was a 16" which I sold with my 07ego and now I have a 14". I have never had a problem using a swab or stick squeege in it or just washing it out with water and hitting it with a fluffy to dry it. The backs currently come with 3 backs .695 .692 and .689.

Damn! Those bores must be for some serious Australian heat and humidity for swelled up balls!

And that's why I love the DW Fibur, freak inserts come in every size imaginable and you can pick and choose which sizes suit you best. Not too mention their rugged as hell...let a buddy borrow my DW last weekend and he decides to do a superman into the snake, after the dust cleared I figured my barrel was pretty much F'd because he sunk the barrel into the dirt. Was dazzled to see not even a sinlge scratch inside or out.

lulz Casey told me about that.

Do you get a lot of breaks Matt with the Freak inserts?

freak inserts are as good as any 2pc barrel you can find, some (like me) dont like to do a paint to barrel match because just because the paint is a certian bore in the morning doesnt mean that it will be the same size in the afternoon. while you can just keeping checking the bore 90% of the people ive seen so far dont do that and can end up with barrel breaks. also too if your paint isnt great (nice and round) it may loose some consistanicy compared to a barrel thats overbored. idk I could go on but this is only my 2 cents. just food for thought. =D

I use the Freak back and inserts and Stiffi tip on my G7Fly and the A1 backs with my Joy stiffi tip on the A1. I love both set ups.

Virus you are correct though I rarely change the back or inserts unless I start getting a lot of barrel breaks. But i do normaly use the .689 or the .691 for indoor and the local field @ Ft. Lewis unless the field is nortiuos for having small boar paint like they do here in Korea, they are running .684-687.

Most of the time I dont get the breaks at the back of the barrels I normally get it in the middle or the end of the tips. But with the stiffi tips it will blow all excess paint out any ways.

I also wax the inside of the backs and insets with a reds stick swab and spray liquid wax to ensure the surface is smooth and slick. Yes it does work or elese I would nt tell you about it.
I also only use the rubber pull throughs to get excess paint out if i do have a break, just so I dont buff some of the paint into the waxed back.

If you dont beleive me just try it.

that sounds hot ive never thought of that. What kinda wax you use? I do someting simmilar. All my internal parts that are brass and such i clean with brass-o or MASS. Cleans them and makes them look good also it will cut back on dirty air and it will make the parts last a little longer.

I use the Rain x Fast wax liquid spray. I also have used turtle wax paste and liquid wax as well. The paste just takes longer to apply, but any type of spray wax will work.

I also use it on my Halos as well(sometimes when i get a break on the hopper it makes it disperse and make it look like a rub instead of a hit sometimes) but it makes it easier to clean after a day of play.

All I do is spray some on the long reds stick swab and some in the back/insert and run it through a few times insureing that they are getting a good coat of the wax all through them then I continue to do all the other backs/inserts then once that is done i use the other Reds swab to buff and polish the wax in the barrel. These swabs are only used for this purpose as well so no other oil, or dirt get in them and mess up the barrel backs or inserts.

I use Simonize Liquid Diamond, it's the stuff you spray on the car while it's still wet and then wipe off, no buffing or waiting for it to dry just spray on and wipe off. That stuff worked great and there was no worry about wax build up. I'd rinse the barrel, spray this stuff on and then run a piece of terry cloth through.

Sonny, haven't had any barrel breaks with the freak inserts that I couldn't blame on the paint (old or just low quality) or going to small of an insert.

Oh sonny btw, if you are looking to save money too something nice about a freak kits are 1 they will go to any freak kit i.e. you can use anyone's freak insert so long as you have the correct barrel back for your gun and 2 if you lose or destroy an insert you can get a new one for dirt cheap (compared to any other option i've seen so far).

I have to say that wx in the barrel is probly one of the best ideas ive heard in a while. I put some down my CP Kit and went to walmart and got some of the crapiest paint I think I have ever seen. I slaped it in the frezzerer for about 4 hours then pulled it out and let it thaw. shot a whole hopper with a tight bore match and still didnt chop one in the breach or in the barrel. the paint just glided on out. and for some cold, brittle, dimpled, and jsut general old @$$ paint. It shot good! That stuff had to be on the walmart shelf for at lest 12months. That wax tip. A+. Even makes my polished black Angel look hot and not so dirty! Thanks!

hey pittbull01231 I am glad you liked the wax job and can see the differance in waxing them internally from it not being waxed. Some people never beleive me. I never reay have issues with barrel breaks because of this. fast and easy way to keep your barrels clean and shooting great. Just rember use the cloth style swabs only for plishing and applying the wax, and use the rubber style push, or pull throughs to get broken paint or just to clean out the barrels, because the more you use the clth swabs the faster you actually buff out the wax and the more you will have to reapply more often.

well thats normmaly how i go about cleaning them (with the rubber style) ive scared to manny barrels with "dirty swabs". yeah i noticed a big differance though.
