Check the stickey's, or consult your manual. Right in the manual it states that 850 psi is acceptable. Easy answer, LP period....Long answer, Your A1 may be compatible with sub-850 psi input from a HP tank. You can give it a try, just MAKE sure your tank is putting out below 850 psi. I tech'd a friends A1 this weekend that would not chrono below 300 fps using a HP tank putting out 750 psi (checked w/ASA w/gauge), using an HPR gauge the mini-reg was putting out 420+ psi w/the velocity adjuster adjusted to minimum output. After installing a mini-reg rebuild kit and lubing, it adjusted to 270 psi no prob and the LPR was able to be adjusted to 57 psi. Once the HPR and LPR where set properly adjusted the mini-reg down to 240 psi, which should put it right around 280 fps. I was actually able to adjust the mini-reg reg down to 140 psi output. If your tank is above 850 psi you can do one of 2 things, attempt the mini-reg mod, which works for some (and is also covered in the stickeys) or get an LP conversion kit for the tank (which is the better solution). Those are your Cheap alternatives, the third alternative is picking up a CP reg adapter (which I personally prefer for a couple of reasons, it's only ~$40 and makes tearing down your marker for cleaning/repairs a lot easier) and use an aftermarket reg of your choice.
TL;DR, well then you should.
