I'm about to buy a used A1 for a very good price, but I notice in the pics that the breech knob is all frakked up - like someone has taken a pair of vice grips to it for some reason.... It will take me about an hour to drive to pick this up, and before I make that commitment , I wanted to see if anyone knows of any reason (good or bad) why this might have happened...

The seller says the breech pins have never been bent or replaced...
thanks for any advice.

The only reason I can think of is someone wanted to replace the ram and to do that, you need to take off the knob. Some knobs are a really tight fit, even after you remove the screw that holds the knob onto the ram. I'll bet that is the reason.

Thanks Trigga.
If anyone else has any other ideas, please post them up.

Maybe ask the seller? Otherwise I'm gonna go with Trigga that they couldn't get it off easily.

Well, I finally got an answer back from the seller (I had asked him, I was just waiting on his reply), and his response was same as what you guys have suggested. So, I'm going to get the gun later today. Thanks.

FYI a new breech knob is only like 10 bucks. Mine is a little scratched up because it fit very tightly on the ram I installed a couple weeks ago so I'd imagine that is the reason. The new internals magno appear to come with a breech knob already installed on the ram so I'd imagine your problem will remedy itself when the new internals come out.

The new ram/hammer combo does not come with a breech knob.

I seem to be having the same problem. I can not get my knob off.

Double check that you removed the screw that holds it in place.

Hmmm, that is going to be a problem. My knob needed some serious coaxing to fit the ram I bought from you guys a few weeks ago. All the pictures showed the new internals as coming with a knob so I assumed it would because there is no way in hell my knob is coming back off the ram. I would have returned the ram if I had known the magno one didn't come with a knob because I had to hammer my knob onto the current ram.

Do you guys stock gold ram knobs or have any extra kicking around?

why not just take a litte very fine grit sand paper and take a very small amount to the tail of the ram to help make the knob fit better. or will the x knob that comes with the snatch grip fit any better?
