Hey everyone. Im hiving some kinda issue with my A1 and the barrels. Something has happened and im not sure what. My stock barrel has 2 light scars running up the inside about 1/4 inch apart. totaly straight up the barrel. i thought this might be a defect in the barrel but when i put on my new sly barrel it did the samething to contol bore. it didnt do anything to the carbon fiber front thank god. but its the same way two light scars running up it about 1/4 inch apart in the same place as the stock barrel as if they where screwed on. (think its the bottom side of the barrel) I dont think it would be from using dirty balls or anything or from the balls chopping since i have run about 5 to 6 cases in the gun since i got it and have only had like maybe 5 chops if even that. any idea on whats going on? it dont seem to be causing any issues as of yet but id like to stop it before it dose.

are you shooting jagged rocks?,
honestly the marker itself could not do this, only the things traveling out of the gun.
Try changing paint and see what happens

you would think so right! ive used a couple of diffrent types of paint. the paint that messed up the stock barrel was diablo blaze and the paint that messed up the sly barrel well im not sure it was some privite label. one of the local fields i go to has someone make their crap with their name on the paint and dont say what it really is. I was looking at them though and im starting to think its just a lack of quality materials being alot of the materials most use in their products arnt as top notch anymore.
Are the scratches deep (indicating maybe sand or something doing the damage) or just on the surface/anno wear? How far up into the barrel do they go? The bolt doesn't travel far enough forward to come in contact with the barrel, if there was anything (dirt, etc.) being expelled from the exhaust valve it would cause other problems most likely and the scratches would more than likely be random, if it was dirt or sand coming in from your loader you would expect to see random scratches as well. Hard to say what's causing it.

they are light scratches. not very deep more or less ano scratches. the way they look and the fact they run the whole lenght of the barrel. i noticed them first when i used some blaze. and i pulled some of the no name paint i got from one of the fields and it looks remarkably like the diablo paint. so i think its the paint doing it. maybe with the diablo i need to go a bore size up because i know there shells and if you look at them under a micro scope the shell is jagged so i could be from a bad round every now and then. i know its not dirt or anything because paint dont go in my gun if it was any place other then the bag, loader, or tube. if it drops its gone. i thnk it may be the diablo paint. ive always used rps paints and have never seen anything like it.

What i do to all my barrels is wax them up. I us a Reds barrel swab and use spray liquid wax or paste(it just takes longer) i run it through a couple times then let it set and dry and then i use a differant swab to polish it up inside. it works great for me. it makes breaks shoot clean out and cleaning is faster. Also gives the ball a nice smooth surface to slide on.
I do it about once a month depends on how often i play. I then use the rubber style pull troughs to get what ever is left over that didnt get shot clean out. That works the best ,because some times when you use swabs you dont clean them as often as you should, and it collects dust and dirt that way, that is why i just use them to polish my barrels and that is it. Rubber pull throughs are the best for cleaning out the paint imo.
