05speed Backcaps.

First off, this isn't technically wtb,and I'm new to Angel markers. I was just curious about the different style of backcaps that were on the Angel Owners site. I'd like to see some pics. I've also been having a hard time tracking some down to buy! Anyone know?

The only different back caps I've seen are the Cobra backs. However, there not in business anymore and I'm not sure that Cobra even made them for the 05 Speed. I've only seen it on a Mamba Fly.

theres joys, euros,cobras, darks (made for the IR3's i beleive but it will fit) and the flys aswell as the Angel Force ones. then you get into the pewter skull ones and the clear system X ones.

I'm with Speedy on this one. I consider them Flys because that's what they're the closest to.

Plus I no longer have the LED board in mine. :P

Its a Speed body and Speed internals. The only thing that likens it to a Fly is the eye job.

They use all A4 platform guts (ram, lpr, noid, valve, bolt, eyes, and the battery). The only thing left from the 03/04 Speed is the frame and lack of Vernier wheels.

The board is unique because of the eye socket instead of the Sensi plug-in. Edit-actually the board was used for the MT Speed too.

The Speed used a slightly different LPR and 'noid. The board is a hybrid between the regular Speed board and the Fly board. They're all similar, but it's Speed-based in the end.

)3/04 Speeds have alot more overhang behind the frame cause of the different ram and I think different noid (not 100% on that one) than an A4. Euros are the same body length as an A4.

Trust me on this one, there are no Speed internals in the Euro, I can take pictures if you'd like.

It's really a mis-matched bastard child as far as Angels go. It's a Fly body with Fly internals but no vernier wheels. Then a Speed frame slapped on with a unique Slayer trigger which as far as I've seen was just for these guns. Put in a almost unique board and you've got yourself a Euro.

My guess is they had a ton of left over parts lying around collecting dust (frames and boards) so it was decided to use them by whipping up some new triggers and soldering on an eye socket. Considering the MT's primarily used the boards for eye conversions I'd say they had to have alot of them sitting there.

Interesting note: Most press release pictures show the Euro having the reg of a Speed but I've never seen real pictures with one on there, it's always the Fly reg. I wonder if they didn't have as many Speed regs sitting around as they thought they did?

something like 15 were int he states but i think there was considerably more, still ive only ever played with 1 other then mine. In Europe theres ALOT of them and they go for REALLY REALLY cheap. I got my Euro from ZOOT over in sweeden so mine has some "sentimental" value as it came from the EU

The difference in internals between Speed and Fly was very minute anyway. Parts are largely interchangeable. It's a Euro Speed though. That's what WDP named it, so that's what it is :D It's as much Speed as Fly. It was basically like the "2k3 LE" LCD - leftover stock plus new platform equals new gun! :D

one could argue that it wasnt leftover stock because the body doesnt have vernier wheels and it was milled with fly like eyes :D

Still, same bodies. Just one less pass through the mill. It's basically mix'n'matched to use up remaining stock, like the 2k3 LCD was. It's a pretty genius marketing strategy from a business perspective.

it is a speed cuz of the board but if they put a Fly board in it it would have been a Euro Fly.

A Fly eye setup alone does not a Fly make. Even with an LCD board it wouldn't be a Fly, because of the grip frame, trigger and vernier wheels. A Fly is a Fly, a Speed is a Speed, and Euro Speed is a Euro Speed. And I'll take on you or any large dancing banana that says otherwise :D
