Well as I've read you can use either HP or LP BUT the better of the 2 is the LP. The question that plages me is it nessasary to get a 4500psi or higher? or can you get a 3000psi, I want to get a 45ci as im a front player, I want to keep it light and small... Im really kinda confuesd on the whole 3000psi vs 4500psi as thats just PSI (pounds per sqin) the number that should matter is 45CI which is the SIZE of the tank... if someone could enlightin me on this matter and advise me that would be SWEET!
Thanks

all you need is a regulator to put out 5-600psi
Does not matter if its 3000psi or 4500psi
or 45ci bottle or 114ci bottle.
The tank regulator has to be low pressure.
and they make LP 45/4500 tanks.

As pbstr4l said, the output pressure is what matters, in terms of what the A1 needs/wants as an air source.
That being said, you're probably better off with a 45/4500...to be assured that you get a sufficient number of shots out of your tank. You will get more shots out of a 4500 than a 3000.
Until you get the A1 tuned to the Joy settings, it's a bit of an air hog. Even with the Joy settings it's still not the most efficient gun you can get. Not bad, but not the best.

Generally, you can estimate how many shots per tank using the following:
For 3,000psi tanks: cubic inch size x 10 = estimated shots per tank
(ex. for a 68ci tank, 68 X 10 = 680 shots)
For 4,500psi tanks: cubic inch size x 15 = estimated shots per tank
(ex. for a 68ci tank, 68 X 15 = 1,020 shots)
That is real general and not always correct depending on the set-up but at least it shows you the difference between tanks.

I have a big problem sadly. i have a 68CI/4500psi tank (brand new crossfire) its a HP reg and my gun has been set to the joy settings. now i filled my tank and tested my A1 for the first time, this thing is nuts but i only got around 350 shots out of the tank. why in the world is it going through so much air? =/
oh, also i have the barrel kit an was using a larger than needed bore. thanks for the help! =)

one thing I noticed too is when I was turning on the asa I heard air leaking (Im assuming it was just air pushing the bolt back)

This isn't a huge problem. You can use the tank as is. You can also send it in to crossfire, and do a reg swap. I do not recall what the cost was when mine was done, but I also got a hydro out of it, and best of all, you still have an excellent crossfire setup.
Your gun will work just fine on the HP regulator. I used mine for a month with a HP tank while waiting for the other tank to come back. I use a 70/45 crossfire. I am very suprrised that you only got 350 shots. Was your tank full when you started? What did the PSI end up at after the fill? It could be the paint-barrel match, but that seems a little extreme.

The gauge said about 4000PSI on my tank and it droped something close (but lower) to 500 I think before it wouldnt fire and leaked the rest out. is it possible that the person didnt fill the tank right? (if possible) one note too is I didnt do the pressure setup gauges but there was a person using it before me so it should be set up. thanks for the help too! =D

I am sure that you got a good fill. The air usually heats up as the tank is filled, and then as it cools your pressure will drop slightly, 4000 sounds about right.
It could be the pressure setup, somewhat, but when I went from a HP tank to a Low Pressure tank, I didn't see that much of a change where I would expect that dramatic of an efficiency loss. It could be a matter of break-in. Five cases is what is thought of as the break-in period.

just bought the angel air (the crossfire one on their site) so if i still have a problem it could only be a mater of adjustment. =D
PhantomAngel:
PSI is a pressure. How much air is squeezed into a certain size tank. So 4500 will hold 50% more air in the same sized tank than a 3000. This means 50% more shots as well.
Trigga covered a good estimate for shots, but yea a 3000 PSI, 45 ci tank is not gonna be a lot of shots (400-500 on a fill).
Teh Virus:
Three things could be your problem.
You said a 'leak' when you turned on the ASA. If there is no hiss after the first time you turn it on, then it's normal and not a leak. If you can hear a hiss later on, then you're leaking and it needs to get fixed.
You may have gotten a bad fill, but I assume your tank has a gauge. You may want to compare the gauge on your tank to a gauge at the fill station to make sure you're gauge is calibrated right. If the numbers at fill station and tank gauge match up, then you're good. So you can look at it about 10 mins after the fill and you'll be a few hundred PSI below what you filled it to. If this goes down over time, you may have a slow leak.
Your gun could indeed need to be tuned via the software to get the right delays and set (Joy settings usually work) to get the efficiency better.
Finally there is one thing that will DEFINITELY help. You said you were using a larger bore than needed. That will ALWAYS waste a lot of air. So that's part of your problem or maybe the whole problem.

Im looking to get a Angel Air system I read it has an output of 450psi, I was read that it the A1 needs to be at about 400psi input pressure. Would a output psi of 450 be suitable to run on the A1 if not how can I get it down to 400 as the manual says it needs to be. What would be a good choice to use on the A1?
Thanks

angel made it so it has to work with the gun. ;)
but I heard the reg on a tank should have a higher psi than the operating pressure for a gun but I couldnt say how much.
