View Full Version : Making my A1 shoot to potential? Bounce?

Well I've had my A1 for well over a year now, and have yet to be satisfied with the speed it shoots. I feel like my old G7 Fly shot consistently much faster.
I the love the A1 and know the potential is there but i'm getting frusterated that I cant get it to shoot how i want it too. I like a small trigger pull, but whenever I get the trigger set to how I want it, it bounces.
Then when I adjust the debounce, it doesnt shoot "strings" anymore...
Any suggestions?
By the way, Im using the Joy settings as of now.
Thanks in advance...

what is debounce? (i take it when you hit the trigger it makes sure it doesnt bounce back and fire again?)

yep exactly, kinda like non stop shooting due to the recoil

Im having trouble finding a good setting on my trigger as well. Bump for interest in the answer.

Try another trigger. I have the Raguba and it is much lighter so I can se it to a very small trigger pull and no bounce at all.

I have been considering getting a Raguba trigger but am convinced there has to be a way to make my marker shoot better without buying a trigger

I set my trigger as far forward as it will go and maxed out the return strength. With the trigger so far forward it's still light but a little snappy set up that way. With the activation point set near the middle of the pull and the debounce at 1 it doesn't bounce much but it probably has a little bit when I rip on it hard. Who doesn't run their trigger that way though?
I find that the paint type setting and loader batteries have a huge effect on how fast my A1 will go. With a gangstar vlocity and Li-ion batteries I can run a paint type of fragile 5 and my A1 will just scream. One of my Li-ion batteries died and I had to go back to alkalines and set my paint type to fragile 4. I can still throw ropes but nothing like I could before 15 or 16 bps vs 20ish. You may want to explore paint type and loaders more in your quest for speed.

thank you very much poopresearch, that helps alot. The more input on this the better, its gotten very frusterating knowing that the potential is there but I cant achieve it.

Things I've noticed about my A1:
1. It takes a while to get the trigger just right but when you do it rips. I mentioned my trigger set up because people always comment on how much they like it so it would probably work well for most people.
2. The eye logic on the A1 is fairly conservative. This is not a bad thing because speed only helps if your paint is flying straight and not breaking. The marker really doesn't begin to shine until you set the paint type to fragile 5 or beyond.
3. Related to number 2, this same eye logic that keeps the A1 from chopping also slows it down when using a slow hopper. You really need a fast loader with good batteries.
4. With the self cleaning eyes and smart programming, the A1 rarely stops working or breaks paint. The eyes do seem to fault frequently when the battery voltage get low. I replace my battery as soon as the voltage goes below 8V (problems generally start around 7.6 to 7.4 V). You will find the A1 will often automatically shut off the eyes and revert to the eyes off ROF if the eyes are faulting. This off course slows the marker down. In short, make sure you have a fresh battery in your A1 to keep it humming!

do you walk 2 or 3 fingers?
I have a battery in my a1 right now that's less than 7v and I can shoot well above 20bps. Granted I use a max voltage pulse... I usually have to set my cap low like 18 or 20 so I don't waste to much paint when i'm shooting fast.
In semi, 3 finger walking I can easily shoot bursts faster than 15bps with no bounce. I have everything on it set really light and when my timing is decent the trigger never fully returns, just passes out of the sensor then back in.
I totally recommend using a clear plastic hand grip when tuning if you can get your hands on one... or just maybe even tuning it with the backside grip off. This way you'll be able to see exactly where the activation point is compared to your pull

yeah i have to say ive noticed the marker having trouble when it gets down to about 7v also. i just turn mine off after every game or during long breaks to conserve the batt so it dont happen to much. as far as the trigger ill take a look at mine and see if i cant figure out how i have mine set because i some how managed to get mine set with enough bounce and just the right pull to make it shoot ropes like its childs play.(it was a fluke because i suck at setting tirgs) im pulling around 16 bps on straight semi when before i couldnt get more then about 7 or 8 on any marker.
