To all back players, What size tank do you run on your lcds. I currently have a 4500psi armageddon 68ci. But i need a larger tank. Also what type of cradle or drop forward are you running, is it comfortable?

ND 90/4500 was what I was using and I had the Warped Sportz drop with on/off

really liked it, but I'm also a wookie, or so the people here seem to think

After every game when i fill 4500 in my tank i need to fill again. So i was looking at buying a 88ci armageddon bottle only. Those tanks are longer though so I want to find a good comfortable set-up

Currently I'm running a 68/3000, which of course is too small as well. When considering what tank to upgrade to, I created a little formula.

(size of tank in c.i.)x(pressure in psi)=(tank total volume)

With my LCD, I get roughly 400 shots per 1000 psi on a 68ci tank. Which means that each shot takes roughly 170 (tank total volume units)

So you take the total tank volume divided by 170...

(total tank volume)/(170)=Paintball capacity

Now if you really want to be picky, you can make this formula even more accurate. An Angel's reg is set at ~600 psi. This means the gun doesn't perform as normal when your tank pressure drops below this level.

So, to factor this in....

{(total tank volume) - [(600 psi)x(size of tank in c.i.)]}/170= Paintball Capacity before pressure dips below 600 psi where dropoff occurs.

Now that's not too complicated is it? Actually, if there was enough demand for it, I'd put this formula into a program for a TI-89 graphing calculator, but I don't speculate too many paintball players have one. BTW, I'm not a math geek; I figured all this out when I was suppose to be doing bookwork in Chemistry class.

Jose_Rico - You know, if you give me the full details on it, I could maybe look at coding it into Javascript for a web-app and put it somewhere. Set it up where you could enter your tank size and reg pressure and it would spit out the approx shots perfil.

I dunno, sounds like a fun little tool/toy to put together.

It's a term of endearment!

PMI has a stubby 88ci/4500psi tank that I'm sure will work well for you.

i agree, that is a good idea. that could come in handy but most guns dont all have the same effeciency. see if you could get it to work though that would be cool

o ya you could try looking at a pmi 5000 tank you might not get quite as many shots but you could still keep your setup a bit smaller

That's true, but it's not really hard to figure out a gun's efficiency. Fill up your tank, go play a game, and keep track of how much paint you shoot, and how many PSI you used up. Say you shot 500 shots for 1000 psi on a 68ci tank...

500s = 68,000 tank units

500/500 = 68,000/500

1 shot = 136 tank units

--------------------------------------

Putting it in Javascript format would def. benefit a lot more ppl than in a graphing calculator. If you want indepth directions of how to do it prophet_autarkis, email me at joshuaedwards@ou.edu and I'll help set you up.

I just got a 114/4500 tank and put it on a Psychoballistics drop with an on/off. The balance is perfect! I can put my finger under the back of the frame, where the web of your hand goes, and it will sit balanced on my finger. The drop is great looking, strong and comes in many colors. Give it a look!

I have a kapp dz 2 cradle on a 88/4500 centerflag hyperflow. I've used a stubby 88 and it is a bit too short for me! (Only because I'm use to my set up...)

DCB: can you post a pic of your setup?

Yea, I will get my brothers camera and get a pic for ya. I like the Psychoballistics drop a lot! Much cheaper than a lot of the others....

jose, i agree that it wouldnt be very hard to find out the efficiency but by looking at some of the people that post on these forums that could be a little too complicated for them.

lol, good point. As far as that goes, a lot of ppl in here have shot more than angels in their paintball journey (mmmmm... mystical) One could prolly get a system worked out for all the major types of guns.

I have a 420 hyperflow 68/ 45 with a lapco dropfoward and it feels great, so does a 88 on it. but i use the 68 cuz i can still get over 2000 shots off of it

well i was looking into buying 88ci tank only for my armageddon. The tank is not fat stubby though it is like the 68 width but longer. 114 4500 ahhh now that is a LOT of air.

While we are on tanks. Is there an adapter for mounting Max-FLo's on standard dovetail drop forwards? Also will a Kapp Drop Zone 3 fit round any part of the maxflo?
