I have a LCD that needs the hole re-threaded that the feedneck screws into. There are no threads left in it. Do you know anybody that can do that? Once they do it, do I need some kind of insert so my new feed neck will scew in to the new hole or what?
Thanks, Roy

I must inform you that unless you know someone who can machine things and who has a fair amount of experience, you are §§§§ out of luck.

The threads cannot be re-tapped to the old size as is right now. You must bore the hole out, thread it 1-2 sizes larger, then make a collar. From there, you need to thread the outside of the collar, and thread the inside of the collar to the old feedneck threads.
However, this CAN be done, it just needs to be done by someone with the proper tools and the experience. I have done this to a few markers and this is the best way to do it. You can try re-tapping without making a collar, but it will just botch everything up and damage the marker further.

Any other ?? Just ask away

They can do a heli-coil insert for you if I remember right. Basically the same method as lthg mentioned but alot less complicated.

The only difference is instead of the outside of the collar being threaded, its press fitted into the freshly bored hole.

Stripped threads anywhere on a marker are never good.

There aren't any MT's in Texas as far as I'm aware of, I think Bob or Ken are your only options for a job of that level.
