alright, well I'm new to paintball and the sort, which may lead you to wonder why I have an angel in the first place. Completely by accident I assure you. I happened to be strolling through an outdoor swapmeet and came across a paintball gun, electric hopper, set of pods, and bag of paintballs all for $30. I purchased the gun since some of my buddies do some paintballing and I've never been able to go with them.

I asked a couple of buddies to figure out what the gun was and they identified it as an Angel LCD. As for year, I'm not sure. I'll throw a picture up later today since I don't have the gun handy.

To be honest, I don't know the intricacies of the gun and it's workings and it really didn't come with a manual. I found the link to the manual and checked that out.

So what do I need to check and see if this thing works besides a HPA tank and a charger. (I have neither) Any help would be appreciated. It might be my computer, but It's kind of hard for me to navigate this forum.

First of all don't try to use co2, it only takes air.

As Tom stated... you'll want to check if it turns on. My bet is it won't due to the fact that there is no charger with it. However, there is also a possibility that it has an aftermarket board in which case it would utilize a 9v battery instead of the stock rechargeable. I personally think you should take some pictures of the gun to let the experts here tell you exactly what you have. In my opinion... any Angel for $30 that works is a damn steal. Also, if you could, open the grip (uses metric screws) and take a picture of the board. That will also help us figure out what all you have.

I have flipped the switch into both positions as well as as tried pressing the buttons. I don't think it is an after market board because I've opened it up and seen the port where the charger is plugged in.

ya, my buddy told me the samething. He said I should use O2

I just remembered I posted some pics of it on another forum. I don't have my camera or gun with me at the moment so I'll use those. If you guys need bigger/better pictures I will take them and put them up later.

again, if you guys need better pics just let me know what you need and I'll put them up there. Thanks for the help by the way.

And for future refference, did I do the picture posting thing right? I know other forums have different rules about it and I was just wondering. Thanks again.

Ok, well as far as your board... it's an IR3 board from the looks of it. It's the next generation electronics after the LCD. It's a more reliable board so that's good.

The next thing... you do have the stock battery meaning that you'll need to track down a charger. Places like fixmyangel.com will sell you one brand new. You can do some searching here and over at pbnation.com for a used charger as well.

The gun looks like it's in good cosmetic condition. Not really sure what the valve and LPR look like. Best thing is to get the battery charged and see if it turns on and holds a charge. Next, air it up and shoot it a bit to see if there are any leaks. Get a hold of some synthetic air tool oil (non-petroleum) or love juice (from fixmyangel.com) and drop no more than 2 drops in the ASA after every 2 cases of paint. That's the first steps you should take in my opinion.

thanks for the help. I'll definitely be doing that then since I was outbid on a charger on ebay. might as well go for a new one. I think I need a crash course in angel tech, better read that manual more in depth. Would a silicone spray lubricant work or would that ruin the gun? While I'm asking around, What would you recommend for this gun? I need to buy an air tank and I was wondering if there were any you guys suggested as well as any other little things to get. thanks alot.

I would stay away from the silicone spray. You'll want to use a liquid synthetic NON-PETROLEUM oil. I use this stuff made by Redline. It's nice because it comes in a larger bottle and is priced the same as WDP's recommended oil. Either one will work however, if you want to stay on the safe side... go with the love juice WDP makes. Make sure to cycle the gun w/out a barrel on about 20 or so times, then remove the bolt and wipe it down. The bolt should never be lubed and should always be dry. If you lube the bolt, it will swell and will cause you problems in the long run.

If the marker is cycling fine, then you are in good shape. If it is not quite up to standard, you can go to fixmyangel.com and go to the service section to look at Bob's tuneup specials.
FYI, you have one heck of a deal regardless if it needs a tune up or not. When you use your marker more and more, you will come to realize that the older LCD's can still keep up with todays markers. Most fields will only allow semi auto so you will not have a problem there. Some say milling them for eyes and aftermarket boards are the way to go. I have a LCD with a antijam bolt and have yet to chop a ball. I can consistantly walk around 13bps +/- 2. You might want to look at adjusting the return spring in the trigger to your liking. I have an FBM trigger made of delrin without a return spring and only use the micro switch as the return. Very light.
Hopefully you can get this working, good luck. V-M
