Alright...so I've been out of the scene for far too long now. Team broke up and the scene here in Niagara all but died, and my Angels been sitting in a box, in pieces since. A sacrilege, I know. Anyway, I looked down at her today, still beautiful as ever and decided to put my foot down and get back into it. Now, it's been....a few years, maybe 2ish, so she's a little out of date. I tried to charge her last summer, but I believe the battery is dead. A friend suggested I ditch the original board and go for a Pred or Tadao. Any suggestions on whether I should or not? If so, which would you suggest, and where is the best/cheapest place to pick one up?
Should I even bother upping, go for a new gun instead? I really don't want to, I loved my Fly, never let me down...I'd feel awful throwing her aside. But yea, any tips/advice/etc would be greatly appreciated guys, thanks.

lucky boards if you can find them are about 60. Tado, Pred or virtue are all in the hundreds, somewhere about !50. the nice part about lucky is that you can change the chip. they do have a few problem though.

Flys are just as much of a gun as they ever were, don't kid yourself into thinking just because everyone else is using something newer that you have to. Why risk buying something new and not liking it when you were perfectly happy with what you had in the first place? I say you restore your baby to it's former glory!

^That's a good place to start for anything you might need. I personally prefer the 9v boards but don't really have a preference as to which one, they all get the job done.
Hope this helps and if it's a big enough resto job than I vote you make a thread out of it so everyone can follow along. :)

i agree, i love my Fly more than any new gun out there. Its the most reliable also, not like the pictures of the egos, shockers, and DMs. i always thought an 05 speed board or an 06 speed board would be the best or the A1. Only because they are opto boards, i love that and they use a 9v.

I'm glad to see so many people adamant about Flies, I love mine. Now I have a question though, if I go to a 9v board, a board other then the stock, won't that make my Fly eyes useless? I'm not sure what to do here. The only reason I need to do anything, is because the battery is dead (Or so that's about all I can figure). Should I just buy a new battery?

you can buy a new battery or you can look for an 05/06 spped board, they have an opto switch, which i prefer( you will have to take the leaf sprind off the oringial board and glue it to the trigger) and it uses a 9v battery. the only down side is, it is led programming. so it all depends if you like the opto feel or you want a micro switch and use a 9v.

I haven't had any problems with the eyes not working with aftermarket boards. Supposedly there can be a problem, but I've yet to encounter it in 6 different A4 Flys.

I have an "OLD" Joy Div Fly in the fleet and love it. I have a predator board in that one and a virtue in the G7 Joy. I like them both.
Definately get one of those (either) the 9volt option is worth the price of admission. Certainly the ramping mode don't hurt either heh heh heh :Banane04:
