Most of you on this site are experienced and are probably well aware of this issue, but me being a newbie to the Angel world had a learning experience. I purchased a new A1 from my local dealer and went out to play and after 300 balls my gun starting leaking air, a lot of air. I called my dealer and he said bring it in and he would check it out. My dealer found the O-ring in the bolt which is a non-serviceable O-ring was blown. He replaced the bolt, checked the settings/pressures, fired 100 rounds through the gun and sent me on my way (no charge).

I went home played the next weekend, guess what, same thing happened. I called the dealer and he said, bring the gun and my air bottle. I did as instructed and upon putting a gauge on the air bottle found the pressure on my new Pure Energy 88ci tank at 1100psi output. I purchased the tank off the Internet so my dealer said I could call Pure Energy direct and they would send me a new low-pressure regulator, which they did. In the mean time my dealer said he would sell me a new 68ci Crossfire LP Tank for his cost $141 so I could play right away. Once again, my dealer did not charge me for the new bolt or the work, only for the tank and cover.

I purchased a gauge from my dealer to check my other tanks and my friends and I have found 4 tanks belonging to my friends that were pushing 1000psi output, thankfully they are all running Tippmans and only have ball breaks in there Cyclone feeders as a problem. We switched tanks on their guns to tanks that were running 850psi or less and the hopper breaks went away.

My advice, check your tanks output pressure routinely, you never know when it gets dirty and starts causing problems.

If you look through the threads involving leaks or problems w/the A1 you will usually see someone asking if they have checked the tank pressure. Glad you got everything sorted out, and btw there's no o-ring on the bolt...

oring?? in bolt???? hmmm.......

sounds like a miscommunication like a mechanic saying "whens the last time you changed your blinker fluid?"

anyhow the only oring that i am aware of is the ram oring behind the hammer that cannot be replaced....

glad your back in buisness

I'm sure he's talking about the ram...think about how you'd explain the operation of the ram to someone new to the gun...it moves the bolt.

Glad you're up and running!

You guys are correct, I'm totally new to the Angel A1 Gun and the gun tech was trying to explain it to me in a way I could understand. I remember him letting move the new ram verses the blown up ram and the blown up ram felt like it had sand in is verses the new ram moved freely. BTW, love this site and have learned a lot from it.

WVBARTMAN have you had anymore trouble out of the gun since we talked last? Also what did PMI say about the reg output?

Voodoo, Since you fixed the gun I have had no problems at all, the gun is awesome. Pure Energy sent me a low pressure drop reg set at no cost. We played this past Saturday and the gun worked perfect, my kill ratio tripled and I think my wife now wants an Angel. Once I get the Christmas bills paid, I will be down to see you about another one for her. Thanks again for your help and patience.

I knew you would be happy with that beast as soon as we got the bugs with your tank fixed. Merry Christmas!

Shibbykins: I love the site and made a donation. Nothing good in life is free as my grandfather use to say.

How do you check your tanks output pressure?

Attach a gauge to an ASA and put your tank on it. The best bet is you use an ASA w/ an on/off and a bleed valve...you won't be able to release the air otherwise (unless the gauge has a bleed valve).

Jimmy V:

My dealer built me a gauge that screws right on the tank. If I remember correctly it only cost around $14. I have to make a comment concerning dealers, I got a great one (Voodoo Paintball in Huntington, WV) who is close by (1.5 hrs away) and anytime I have any problems with any of my guns he has the parts in stock and fixes it while I wait. Having a great dealer with all the parts on hand is a great benefit and the best is he's a master gunsmith and knows these guns inside and out. I know you can find guns on ebay cheaper but if something goes wrong with it what are you going to do? Most would answer "send it to Bob and be without a gun until I get it back". Thankfully I found a good dealer close by and it has made my experience a pleasent one.

All I'm saying is support your local shop if you have a good one. You'll never know when the time comes and the local shop bails you out and fixes your problem.
