Hey guys,

I'm a woods ball/scenario player. Casual at best. Maybe 10 times a year. I have two Speed '05's, which I love and have had maintained by www.fixmyangel.com. I may be a casual player but I like my gear to run at it's best and wouldn't own anything but an Angel. (I've been playing for 20 years.)

I'm buying an Angel A1 shortly. Knowing that I'm a woods ball player and the amount I play, what would you recommend I do to a new, rock stock Angel? I don't need it tricked for tournament ball but, would like it to rip like the wind when I do play. I'm not into tinkering with it at all. I want to set it up and have it work reliably then leave it alone.

I'd be grateful for your suggestions.

Thanks guys!

JV

Where are you getting it from? If your gettting it from Bob, then air it up and feed it paint. If not then get a set of HPR/LPR gauges to verify pressures, set it up to the Joy/Rage settings, if it doesn't come w/3 piece eyecovers pick up a set, and make sure it has all the gen 2 internals (all that info is in the stickies if your not sure about any of that) and depending on size of your paint maybe the expanded barrel kit.

I'm going to e-bay it for sure. Some screamin' deals there over the holidays. I've been cruising the for sale boards here and just haven't found something I'm interested in yet. I'll definitely be sending it to Bob, as I always do, before I take it out. It just took me awhile to get up to speed on my Speed '05's and to get them just like I wanted them. Wanted to ask the A1 owners though for tips and appreciate yours.

Cheers!

NP, there are other things you can get, but really all they do is fulfill "personal preference" of the user, not really increasing it's performance. Just to name a few, CP reg adapter so you can use an HP tank and your reg of choice, aftermarket board (Rabid ;)) so you have a micro switch instead of opto-switch, aftermarket triggers (Bob's, Raguba and others), snatch grip (I got one and its convient but the finish isn't very impressive). Rest of the things I can think of are purely cosmetic.

Thanks again guys. I thought about Skilz's marker but, as a woods ball guy, a bright shiny silver marker cries "here I am" from 1000 yards.

I ended up with an ebay deal of a rock stock brand new statin black A1 + a Stiffi for $600.00. Got some recommendations from Bob and am sending it in the first of the year.

Can you guys tell me the advantages to the aftermarket trigger? Snatch grip is a must. I'm still reading up but, what exactly are the gauges for and how do you use them? Sorry for the dumb question but my Speed 05's don't use them.

Thanks fellas,

JV

If you'll be having Bob do all your tech work, you may not need them. You said you don't really tinker, so they're not a big deal. They are for adjusting your own LPR pressure and the like.

Triggers are all about personal taste. Some people like the feel of different shapes and materials. The stock trigger is one of the more comfortable stock triggers on markers today. Do you get the stock barrels in addition to the stiffi? That's a great deal!

You don't have to do much to it. Keep your eye out on any new stuff coming out, that's about it.

Well take a look at the prices of other markers in the A1's neighborhood, then take into account that it's been around for sometime now, look at the price difference between an 06 EGO now vs. when it was debut, actually the New retail price has come down but not by that much all things considered.

Well, I'm sorry for hijacking the original thread...but the question remains.
Why should anyone pay full retail ( up here in Toronto Badlands $ 995 no tank or Canadain paintball $899 with a tank) when I see A1's for sale on line at giveaway prices. ( There is little difference in the US and CDN dollar).

MAP pricing for the A1 is $995. Toronto is one of the Tech centers for Angel, no surprise they are following the MAP.
