View Full Version : Any other possibilities?

Just got an A-1 in a trade...of course it has a big ass leak...

The guy replaced the exhaust valve stem (sent the old one w/ it), but it's still leaking out of the exhaust port. Is it possible that it's something OTHER than the valve guide? It doesn't leak anywhere else, and it still shoots like a champ, just w/ a continuous leak.

Thanks!

Maybe re-lubing might help?

sounds like the leak is coming from the ram. remove it, replace orings, you can't replace the internal ram shaft oring, but the other one can be by removing the hammer from the shaft. Lube it up. If it leaks when you air it up, but stops after dry fired a couple of times or after you rotate the breach knob open then closed, then the internal ram oring is the cause of the leak. If it doesn't stop leaking then the ram will need to be replaced.

I have had this problem before. I disassembled the valve, lubed it and reinstalled it and checked my pressures. Problem solved.

May try replacing the o ring on the exhaust cap.(access point to take off eye straps and get to valve) We had one leaking from there and that's what the problem was.

I've had this problem before and thought it was the valve stem, but it was the valve stem guide.

I know that sounds crazy, but I let the valve stem wear down too much and it damaged the guide. So to fix it I had to replace both parts, not just the valve stem.

Remove the maintenance plug and take out the valve stem. look down in their to see if the valve guide is all dinged up.

Okay, so I took it all the way apart...

Cleaned EVERYTHING, I've seen rental markers cleaner than the inside of this thing! Looks like he wiped it down, that's it. Everything was caked on. If I had kept my M-16 like this, I'd have been dead...

Changed every o-ring, lubed everything...

Still leaking out of the exhaust port, so I guess I'll have to buy a new valve stem and guide, replace 'em together and hope for the best...

I hate that I was told it wasn't leaking, then get this. I hate shooting back ups.

Hey, I just though of something... check your LPR assembly. Specifically, look inside the assembly to ensure that the blue gasket (internal face seal) is intact. This happened to me--I wound up changing the LPR body and fixed that leak (which sounded from the front). I actually posted on this a while back, here's the link: http://www.angel-owners.com/showpost.php?p=595604&postcount=6
