So has anybody tried out that new torque or the new hopper from empire? I was planning on buying a reloader b2 but now i'm not sure if I should buy one of those other ones. I read alot about the empire magna drive hopper and so far is sounds nice. What should I do?

When the first picture popped up I thought "Wow, this is all we've been waiting for, major failure". But the YouTube video blew me away. That thing is simply amazing all together and it looks really good when it's actually on a gun.

Those of you with Halos or Reloaders can simply get the Magna conversion kit. Here's a link: Magna Upgrade Kit (http://www.actionvillage.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/eCS/Store/en/-/USD/DisplayProductInformation-Start;sid=m1yvo4MJ9NKv-cRbvFJvC4nAky3L-RnkNy8=?ProductID=NJvAqArbcpYAAAEVqaXMwvzT)

The Jrny doesn't come out until February?!?!?! I hadn't heard that yet. That blows. Oh well, I guess my Pulse will just get taped back together until then. It's almost to cold to play for the rest of the year around here anyways.

I think i'll just stick with the reloader for now and maybe get the jrny when it comes out in feb. The magna drive from empire is sounding kinda ify right now.

Well, i love paintball videos, they have the worst scripts, worse than a Jerry Springer Episode. During the last video, i prayed for someone to come in and chuck a brick so at least i would wake up. That being said (and me grabbing a Cappuccino to wake me up).....
I think i will wait and watch, i think it is important for a new piece of equipment to be heavily field tested. I share many of the concerns that have been voiced in this thread, lately with the release of various new hoppers i have become very weary of switching just because something new is out. NXe has always been a good company for me, so i would consider it, but at this point i won't buy it right on the release day. Right now i have a Velocity Jr. With Virtue Chip, i like it, my brother has 3 Empires, 1 B2 and 2 B's with after market shells and upgrades and he loves em. I have had experience with allot under the sun, at the end of the day nothing spoils a paintball adventure like malfunctioning equipment, so research and look for reviews/feedback before jumping through rings of fire... Just my 2 cents.
And remember the sage old saying, when in doubt, let patience guide you....

Again my 2 cents worth.
I use a Velocity Jr with the Virtue chip.
Light, super fast and a proven design.
I keep my hopper in "Ramp Mode = 40BPS"...nuf said.

have you heard anything about this gangster chip for the vlocity? It looks like it does the same thing as the virtue chip. It got excellent reviews on pbreview.com.

For the vLocity Jr. it's great... for the regular vLocity I really don't see the advantage as you can already select how much force you want applied.

The Virtue boy's give you enough freedom as to how you set up the hopper.
You can even create a total custom response curve for how the hopper functions.
By the way, battery life is extended when using the Virtue chip.
Oh, and one more thing...it gives you a "Reball Mode"...so you can have fun at home without the mess.
Im willing to bet the Screw drive mechanism will dominate the hopper world in the long run. Using a compression screw in a PB hopper is a great idea!! I agree the shell construction might be an issue, however as many have said, only player testing will be the judge of that.
I was most impressed with the drive mechanism though. Simple concept, great innovation. Only time will tell.

OK, that sounds like a lot of features but... Maybe it's just me, but dammit, how much science is needed to get a paintball into a breach? Not doubting or making fun of what you posted, Old Guy, but I mean, response curve? Who the hell has the time to measure all that? Longer battery life, I already got that one licked--I use 2500 mAh AA rechargeables in my Halo or Pulse, 950 mAh 9Vs in my vLocity--they last me 2 days of solid play on either before I need to recharge them. I think all these "features" are really immeasurable from the typical end-user's standpoint, just marketing ploys to get us to spend more money. I'm sure someone who buys such upgrades will swear they're getting huge performance gains, but to me it seems like a sort of placebo effect--you spend the money, so naturally you expect to see results, even if they're really only minimal at best. Maybe I'm wrong, but it's just the way it seems to me after speaking to friends of mine on this same subject.

I have an Empire B2, new Magna Drive with RF, Gangstar Vlocity, and XSV Vlocity. The XSV is my choice for day to day play. Magna is VERY heavy.

I still use a stock halo B with rip....haven't needed more yet. Maybe that's just me.

The same amount of technology that allows our markers to fire achieve high rates of fire. Throw a VL Revolution on an A1 and tell me you are happy with the setup. As the markers change, so do the hoppers. Either one is useless without the other.
As far as the upgrades being gimicks....I feel that way with some of the upgrades....but others really do make the difference of night and day. The price you pay isn't necessarily for parts and or materials...or even the technology. You pay for the R&R and someones idea that makes your playing experience better.

I bought the Empire Magna, and all I can say is wow! This thing is fast, if you so choose to shoot that fast. The RF kit is an easy install, the feedneck is suprisingly strong. I have put it through some rough stuff so far and its holding up well. The profile of the gun/hopper is less visible to be shot at because the only real thing sticking out is your barrel alone. I use this hopper with my A1 and my SL74. This thing doesn't miss a beat.

I hear you, bro, but here's my point: I play either PSP or NPPL rules. PSP allows ramping, but it's capped at 15.4 bps. NPPL has no ramping; fastest I've ever gone with my fingers is 16 bps. So why would I need a hopper tossing 35 bps? Yes, granted, an Egg is not as good a loader as my Halo, and definitely not as good as my Pulse or VLocity in terms of preventing chops and jams. It's just that it seems to me that some, not all, but some of the advertised features of these new hoppers and upgrades are rendered moot in actual play, that's all.
Old Guy
12-03-2007, 09:53 AM
Ok, I admit the Hopper speed and features issue are being overblown.
The ability to feed 20BPS, Clear Jamns Automaticaly and Feed Every Ball with 100% RELIABILITY should be the Holy Grail of any Hopper manufacturer.
So what are we left with that fits the bill?

I think what Skilz is trying to say is that he simply wants a hopper that does it's job, that he doesn't have to worry about. Not one that turns water into wine, just one that puts the damn balls into the gun. I have to agree, the perfect hopper is one that I put on at the start of the day, take off at the end, and hardly even notice it in between.

I would suggest a Vlocity based on what I have seen to date.

Yep, a Velocity..in my case a Jr model with the Virtue chip.
It works and puts the damn paintballs into my A1 with little fuss.
skilz
12-03-2007, 12:09 PM
Yep, that's exactly what I'm getting at. So far the Pulse (stock, no RF chip) & VLocity (again stock) are both giving me that kind of performance on both my A1 and Ego7.

VLocity with the Dynasty upgrade. tested at CC by Joy (teched for them) and no problems.

Yep, I still use my V35 Halo Loader on my Shocker NXT BUT I use my Velocity on my A1.

From what I can see, it seems to be a matter of preference. Depends on the individuals wants and needs and those factors differ between people. I personally just want something insanely fast just to see what my a1 is capable of. I had a vlocity and it just didn't seem to feed that fast to me.

I actually saw the (stock) Torque at a local shop. The shop owner brought a few back from Cup--I had at one (took it apart, put it back together, free-falled it with 1 9-volt, free-falled it with 2 9-volts) and kinda liked it. Just like the 68caliber article mentions, though, the mouth is waaaay too small. The plastic feels much tougher than that used on popular loaders mentioned in this thread, and the fact that there aren't any screws to lose or battery door to break is a major plus. However, it does take a bit of practice to learn just how to depress the push dowels when you take the loader apart and how to line up the two halves of the shell when reassembling. At $99 its also much more reasonably priced than the Magna and other high-ends. I've seen some really cool aftermarket shells online for it too--this loader definitely has some potential.

I've watched a couple youtube videos of all the hoppers i've been looking at. Right now it's between the vlocity jr with virtue chip, magna drive, and the torque. Would bob or ken be able to suggest a fast hopper that I could buy for my A1? How do I get in contact with either of them?

virtue chip is no need! vlocity n reloader b keep up ramping at custom 25bps w/ no prob.....gun will shoot as fast as the eyes will allow....which in tern speed of hopper.......they're all good just feel em on ur gun and which looks you care for! GL

I just went and re-read the Pinokio thread. The funniest part is the rumored 380 pods you can buy for it. I wonder if the ball capacity grows as you wipe? What a joke altogether.

...I wonder if the ball capacity grows as you wipe?...
lmao that is very funny I also agree with shibby about the whole dildo thing. that thing is hilarious looking... the bad part about all that is that they are marketing it as a serious peice of equipment to use in major tourney. I think that sombody designed it as a joke and somebody else found it in the trash and decided to make it .
lmao about the whole thing

what is everyones views on the JRNY with the little info we have, i just read about the torque it sounds nice but im curious as to how fast the JRNY will feed. im anxious t find out because my halo with v35 just doesnt cut it anymore (heavy and very inconsistant)

The JRNY looks interesting. It's appearance could be better but I feel that it's designed well and it's NXe;therefore, it should be a quality product. It will feed faster than you can shoot SpeedFreak05.
I have a feeling that the JRNY's Screw feed mechanism will dominate the hopper world over the next few years. I think the shell construction could change a little, but its not the shell that feeds the paint, its the internal mechanical mechanism.

they stated it would be around 120 i believe. Also of course it will feed faster than i can shoot, i was just looking for an exact number :) its always fun to show off now and then
