I havent been on here in a while, but i have noticed that the value of the a1 has dropped much faster in one year than any other angel.
I find them nib for under $700.00 thats close to a 40% loss in one year.
Massive depreciation that I have never seen in previous angels.
Could this have to do with the whole "parts made in china" thing?
I thought there was a standard base price that dealers had to abide by, and could not lower that price in order to maintain value?
any thoughts,......

the angel 1 has horrible resale primarily because of the notion people have regarding them. most people see more broken angel 1s on the field than working, so they give them little value. it has nothing to do with where the parts were made. its just simple economics.
I can't honestly figure out why the A1's resale has dropped so much, good news for anybody looking at picking one up, not such great news if you where looking at selling yours. Across the board I have seen crazy cheap angels available where they used to be much higher prices. Retail for an A1 is still in the $995 range with a tank, but you can find private parties selling them for less, which can only mean that these guys are taking it in the shorts or the dealer markup for A1's is pretty high. I still think i got a pretty good deal back in Jan when I picked up my package deal (A1, PMI LP 68/4500 tank and Pulse w/chip{right before the suit as luck would have it}) for $1300. Busta is right though that quite a few people have had issues (most of which where due to improper setup pressures or using an HP tank) and didn't have the technical skills to resolve their problems so they called it junk and dumped their A1. Next time i see one for $500 or less I'm taking advantage of the poor soul selling it and picking up a backup.

I agree with you both. I am constantly hearing guys at the field that have negative things to say when they have never owned or even shot an A1. Their opinions change when they see our 5 team A1s tearing it up. The contagious negative opinions seem to be generating from the local store owners who badmouth anything that they do not sell. Personally i'm tired of hearing Dye this, Dye that. These store owners really like Dye's "no questions asked" policies on swapping defective parts and push that product for the ease of after sale support. I kinda enjoy being the local store exception and showing what those "crappy A1s" can really do.

i dont really listen to what anybody says about markers before i try one or buy one...usually people just say what they have heard about guns rather than actually trying one before judging it
the angel 1 is the best marker i have ever shot in a long line of guns. And when taken care of and knowing what you are doing it can be very reliable

I feel you, I just started playing again after a looong vacation.
(last time playing was 01 cup in orlando)
Back then angels were king (still are if you ask me), their was no other marker out their that could match it....it was the high end to have (no just due to popularity, but it lived upto its price tag)
I came back and did the natural thing...bought an A1.
I owned one of the first LED's to roll of the line ( 0098 )
Few "custom" ones I.E eclipse, Dark and so on
LCD and IR3
Now, I get my new angel and notice their not in a league of their own anymore.......
You got Ego's Dm's and so on...bunch of odd looking guns that I never heard of.
I picked up my "new" baby at 525$ with 1700 on the shot counter Due to it being "plagued with trouble"....all of the issues were fixed in moments of me getting it and I've enjoyed its flawless performance since.
I think the the huge drop in prices are due to:
1.) availability of other high end markers
2.) people wanting the new "Fad" gun
3.) stupidity, people dont take the time to read and learn how to use it properly
4.) Support, *IF* something major goes wrong, you cant drop it off to the locale bumkin at the store to fix and their Techs arnt a dime a dozen (which if you ask me is good because you recieve better care from someone who has gone through a more exstensive program)
I think the prices are great, you can get a marker thats 2-3X more valuable than what your paying, hell i'm hoping that when/*IF* the a1 flys come out, I find another moron that doesent know how to work it right and sells it off cheap

I just bought another A1 as a backup and loaned it to a teammate knowing that he would love it. He is now looking to buy one. I only have 3 more teammates to convert!

A1 Resale value drop is actually due to 1 thing and 1 thing only, you can find NIB from retailers with warranty for 700 bucks or less. Why would i pay you more for a used one than a new one? On the plus side, angel resale value still didnt drop as much as dm7's or ego7's by percentage wise so we still came out ahead especially when considering the A1 is a mid 06 gun.

I've been lurking on this forum for some time now, mostly because I've been very intrested in angels...but watching the depreciation of the A1 and some people having very not nice things to say about it in comparison the the G7 line has lead me to think twice about it several times.
But I still want to get one because it is very confortable for me to hold (nixed several guns off my list because they just didn't feel right to me like the DM/PM/Emag/timmys...etc) and I really like the looks. I've also been told many times that high end gun purchases come down to prefrence, since they will all outpreform field limits. That and angels are angels...they hold a certian air about them, they are also not all that common on fields anymore the fields I frequent the high end markers in play are commonly egos, shockers, and matrixes...every now and then I see one angel...maybe two if the field is crowed.
I'm not intending to buy until after tax season (tax return money is money for a new toy), by then I might just get the fly if they haven't changed the frame/reg milling and the upper milling looks nicer...otherwise I'll just get a used A1 for dirt cheap and change to the fly internals (since those numbers I've seen from the MTs look nice).
