did the Browns learn how to hold onto the ball yet?

seriously though, how bad is your team when after week 1 you decided that last years starter and the QB you determined was the best on the roster for this year has already been traded, and you resign Ken Dorsey to mentor your rookie?

Good luck matt, gonna be a long year for brownie fans.

next weeks Colts/Pats game should be good, but with the way the Pats are playing right now it's hard to pick them the underdog going in. Admittedly they haven't played too many teams with winning records, but the ones they are playing they are totally thrashing them. Right now it's hard to imagine anyone else even in the same class of play as the Pats.

I get to watch them play every week living near the Boston area. They aren't playing good ball, they are playing great ball. With that also comes the benefits of getting calls their way. Randy Moss has gotten away with at least 4 TD's he shouldn't have as well as others with a few suspect calls. He's either pushed off or slapped down the defenders hands before the ball has gotten there. Belichick is a douche bag. He's been running up scores for no apparent reason other than his ego is telling him to. He's going to get Brady hurt, I've been saying this for at least 3 weeks now. Him pulling Cassel last week because he threw an INT was bogus. You were up by 21 in the 4th to an 0-6 team. I guess it was somewhat safe to put in Cassel yesterday over 1/2 way into the 4th up by 45.Yesterday they were up by 35 and going deep on 1st downs in the 3rd quarter. They went for a 4th down leading by 45. People can argue and say that it's the D's job to stop them as long as they are on the field, but week after week it's become a joke. This guy shows that he's a classless act and he'll get his down the road. What goes around, comes around.

All I got to say is it is great to be a fan in Boston lately!

But, say what you want Brady is getting the job done now because he has all the weapons to go to. In the past he had Ok guys but nothing like he has now. This season will break many of the NFL's and teams records. I was a bit surprised to see him run in 2 TD's this weekend though. Sooner or later he will pay the price for that. Remember how he got the job.... Bledsoe got his clock reset playing the Jet's!

Indy and Pat's this week is nothing short of the Super Bowl. Who ever is on top will go all the way for sure. I think Payton is in for a long day. Las Vegas has the Pat's to win and are giving Indy 6 points as of today. We'll see on Sunday!

can you believe this crap...the entire nation gets to watch the Colts/Pats game...except Houston who is forced to watch the Raiders/Texans game:wtf:

I have to go find a damned sports bar so I can watch a game not only with meaning, but that should be interesting and exciting.

I gotta say TK I agree to a certain point that there's a point where Bellichick is being an utter horses ass. He's never been high on my list of coaches who seem to present themselves in a classy manner. Shoving reporters out of the way, refusing to shake other coaches hands, etc etc. His actions all around have been those of an infected, puss ridden vaginal cavity.

Hopefully it's a good game this weekend though and not some boring snore fest

You think you have it bad. People who live within minutes of the stadium where the buckeyes play cant even watch the game if they have time warner (the major cable provider in central Ohio). Time warner has refused to carry the big ten network and for some §§§§ed up reason the game this weekend ... which is a pretty big game OSU vs Wisconsin will not be able to be seen by anyone with time warner. There have been a few other games this season that were only on the big ten network and they were the smaller games that didnt mean anything. but this weekend is a big game and a lot of people wont be able to see it without having to go to the bar or a friends house with satelite.

Also being a browns fan in central Ohio is rough, anytime they play at the same time as the bengals, the columbus stations show the bengals games. So sundays the last few years have sucked because you cant watch your favorite team.

The only time the browns get airtime is when they arent on at the same time as the bengals or they are playing them or the steelers.

every dome team gets accused of piping in crowd noise

Minnesota got it years ago, the Falcons got it, Indy gets it etc etc...it's nothing new at all.

How about the fact that for almost the entire 1st quarter the Redksins headsets were down, but magically the Pats weren't and somehow the refs didn't make the Pats take them off.

headsets, the Giants opening the north tunnel when a kicker is lining up for a FG etc etc. There's all sorts of things that home teams get accused of.

Ouch a loss to the 1-8 Jets has to burn when you are considered one of the top teams in the AFC.
as a whole does it really matter?

They're still probably the #2 team in the AFC, and depending on how the rest of the season plays out they may still manage to get the #2 seed in the Playoffs.

The Colts would be #3 IMO only because they're so hurt right now. Were they healthy I think it would be a different story. But who cares about those ESPN or Fox "Power Rankings" they don't mean squat to the players, and they don't have any affects what so ever on the games or records. It's not like College Football where a bunch of washed up never amounted to squat beat writers "vote" for who gets to be the winner. This is the NFL! You wanna win in the NFL? You sack up and bring it on Sunday.

thog94
11-19-2007, 12:46 PM
Of course it matters. They are either a #2 or 3 seed, the difference between the two is a week off at the start of the post season. If a game like this is the difference in the seeding, then they should be ashamed of themselves for tanking against an inferior like the Jets. It's an unacceptable loss.

I was at the Buffalo home game yesterday, now i am not a fan of NFL at all (LIVERPOOL FOR LIFE EPL FAN), it isn't my cup of tea, but i went with my dad, his girlfriend, my brother and his girlfriend cause they really wanted me to go, so i went, and i am more a Pats fan than a Bills fan at that. Now that being said, i have seen Barry Sanders at the old Pontiac Silverdome, i have seen Miami (we have a place in Florida) play a few times, but being in Buffalo was a totally new experience. I tripped 1000 times on discarded beer bottles in the parking lot (before and after the game), i watched 10 fights break out, i couldn't cheer cause i was afraid of being killed by some pants on head retarded person, but the topper was this, standing in line for the bathroom and a guy who was peeing in a corner (no urinal or toilet within sight) a hotdog in his mouth, drinking a beer at the same time and on a cell phone...While i love Buffalo for deals (Toronto has nothing compared to the American Retail Economy) and World Famous Duff's wings, i will not be returning to that field, i have never seen so much civic irresponsibility, and i like to have fun but this was silly! I mean we are driving home on the Buffalo Skyway and i see 2 accidents (including an ambulance that ran into another car after being at an accident just a little back) and a guy throwing empty beer bottles from his car, definitely doesn't inspire :( Tom Brady however does :) CheerS!

PS. Shibby i got your txt message, but i was driving so i couldn't respond :( But i did see lots of cuties at TGIF :)

Westbrook to me seems like an idiot at this point

breaks a wide open run and then lays down on the 1 yard line instead of punching it in. Coulda put the Eagles up 17-6 which woulda meant 2 scores. Instead he lays down on the 1 and the Eagles take a knee to run out the clock so they win 10-6 instead.

I guess a win is a win, but man points are a determining factor in tie breakers dude.

You can't blame westbrook for that stunt he pulled, his coaches told him to do that. The only people pissed off at him for doing that are the people who have him in fantasy leagues. It was a §§§§ty weekend all around for a lot of big names in fantasy and what westbrook did was just an additional kick in the balls to fantasy owners who had him.

not good news for us steeler fans hep:

PITTSBURGH -- Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger didn't practice with the starting offense for the second day in a row Thursday, a sign he is unlikely to play in the team's final regular-season game Sunday in Baltimore.

Week 17 Games

Saturday, Dec. 29
» New England at N.Y. Giants
Sunday, Dec. 30
» Seattle at Atlanta, 1 p.m. FOX
» New Orleans at Chicago, 1 p.m. FOX
» Cincinnati at Miami, 1 p.m. CBS
» Detroit at Green Bay, 1 p.m. FOX
» Jacksonville at Houston, 1 p.m. CBS
» Carolina at Tampa Bay, 1 p.m. FOX
» Buffalo at Philadelphia, 1 p.m. CBS
» San Francisco at Cleveland, 1 p.m. FOX
» Pittsburgh at Baltimore, 4:15 p.m. CBS
» San Diego at Oakland, 4:15 p.m. CBS
» Dallas at Washington, 4:15 p.m. FOX,
» St. Louis at Arizona, 4:15 p.m. FOX
» Kansas City at N.Y. Jets, 4:15 p.m. FOX
» Minnesota at Denver, 4:15 p.m. FOX
» Tennessee at Indianapolis, 8 p.m. ET NBC

With the Steelers (10-5) already assured of playing a home playoff game Jan. 5 or 6, it appears unlikely coach Mike Tomlin will risk Roethlisberger aggravating the right ankle he sprained late in the team's 41-24 win at St. Louis on Dec. 20.

Charlie Batch took the snaps with the starters again Thursday and is expected to start for the fourth time in the last three seasons. He was 2-0 as a starter in 2005 and 1-0 last season, but hasn't started since the Steelers' 2006 opener against Miami -- when Roethlisberger sat out after having his appendix removed four days before.

Until Roethlisberger was hurt, he was in position to start all 16 regular season games for the first time in his four-season career.

Earlier Thursday, Roethlisberger was chosen as the AFC offensive player of the week for going 16-of-20 for 261 yards and three touchdowns against St. Louis. He also had a perfect passer rating of 158.3 for the second time this season.

Dusted, the Steelers have locked up the #4 seed and it's highly unlikely that they would move up to #3. That being said, it's the smartest thing to do (rest Ben) before the playoffs start. They need everyone as healthy as they can be. After tanking some earlier season games, dropping this one doesn't matter.

I went 1-3 on the weekend predictions

this weeks winners

Dallas
New England
Indy
Green Bay

at least that's what I'm thinking...lol

I think Green Bay and Brett Favre will play better against the Seattle D than Todd Collins and the Washington Redskins.

I think the Giants/Cowboys game will be touch and go, but I still think Eli is a joke and will deflate. Of course I'm still waiting for Romo's glass slipper to break into a million pieces and without TO it has started to show some cracks, but TO has a history of healing miraculously for playoffs.

New England...yeah no brainer here

Indy/SD is gonna be good, but I think Bob Sanders is better than anyone in the Tenn Defensive backfield and I think the Indy O is much more efficient and much more explosive. I expect Indy to put about 28-35 on SD this weekend. With or without Marvin Harrison

Indy/Jax is gonna be good, but I think Bob Sanders is better than Troy P and I think the Indy O is much more efficient and much more explosive. The only thing I think Indy needs to worry about is MJD returning a kick off for a score because he's going to get a lot of opportunities to do so I think. I expect Indy to put about 28-35 on Jax this weekend.

I've lost whatever respect I had for SD over the last few weeks. Rivers is just a little bitch, he's an average QB who fell into a system with 2 great weapons. He's nowhere as good as he thinks he is. I couldn't deal with LT pouting on the sidelines like a baby, it just confirms what he actually is.

Their fans are also brain washed into thinking that they are an elite NFL team. Well congrats, you won your 1st playoff game since 1994 when you had your asses handed to you by the 49ers.

NE should win. The weather is going to be decent, there will be rain the night before, but it shouldn't play a factor. I love it how they get the 8PM game again. This is a joke and just shows me that the NFL is blowing them again. They always get the late game at home when the conditions are worse.

§§§§, I'm going to stop my rant. But I'd love to see NE and SD lose and I know that only SD will.

Picks for the week: NE, Indy, NYG, and the Pack.

Emmit
01-09-2008, 09:20 AM
I think the Giants are dangerous right now and playing better than the Cowboys, but I still don't put any faith in Eli being able to do squat...that said I don't have any real faith in Romo minus TO. If TO plays, and I think he will, Romo will manage. If TO sits then I feel Romo is screwed and we'll see that he truly is a horrible QB when he doesn't have one of the best receivers in football to throw to.

thog94
01-09-2008, 09:48 AM
Scenarios:

TO plays hurt, NYG win, TO rants about his teamates not giving enough effort while he was out there hurt.

TO plays hurt, Cowgirls win, he's praised for going on the field in their time of need.

I don't have much faith in Romo, he's not an elite QB like the media portrays him. He's just in a prolific position. He needs to do something worthy on a consistent basis to prove himself. They just haven't has §§§§ at the QB slot since Aikman left, so they will tout him as the 2nd coming.

I can understand your investment. These guys don't play ball in a bubble. Everything effects them, just like the rest of us. Some of them can compartmentalize things better than others, but Romo doesn't seem to be one of those types.

His newfound fame, and the lifestyle that comes with it, may be catching up to him. Time will tell for sure, but I like the way the Giants are playing. If I was to put $$ on this game, I think it would be on the GMen.

My buddy and I were having a conversation about this last night. Whenever I was on the ice or the field I was 100% focused and nothing else was on my mind. That's just me, but when I think of things in my terms, I have a hard time thinking that Romo is different.

As a pro athlete he should be 100% focused and not worried about some bimbo in the stands. Mental toughness is part of what got him where he is. I think that he has that in him, but since they are both high profile, the media is making it out to be bigger than it really is. Let's be honest if he was dating Jane Smith from next door no one would give a §§§§ if they went to Cabo last weekend.

I don't like him as a player and think that he's overrated, but I think he's the type of guy that just goes out there to play the game. I don't think that he's distracted by much and just happy to be where he's at. The mistakes that he's made on the field were errors in his judgment that I believe were his and not by distractions that were created by the media or in the stands.

They said this morning that she won't be at the game. If they win something will be said about her being a jinx, but nothing will be said about her if they lose.

Since both ACF teams can't lose, I'd like the Pats to win. In a hate/hate situation I'll take the Pats since I can't stand Rivers who is the 2nd most overrated QB, Romo bring #1. I'd love for the Gmen to win, but I think Green Bay will win.

San Diego had their opportunities, just couldn't pull through.
After this I'm pretty sure the Patriots will take the Super Bowl.

I'm thinkng the Giants in an upset to ruin the Pats win streak into the SB.
Vegas is favored NE at 12. I don't think so and I'm trying my hardest to bet some friends locally and give them not 12 but 10 and to no avail. hmmmm

I got the Giant but loosng only 7 1/2 on the down side. Vegas is giving 12 and EA sports virtual crap thing they do every year says 38 31 Patriots. Haha I still will get my $$ if thats the case. And btw EA sports for the last 5 years has been right on the winner but the score not so much. So we will see in a bit.

I will love watching the local news tonight with everyone eating crow.

I wonder how many people got killed on the over/under.

I guess when Plax ran his mouth about them only scoring 17 points, he was wrong and thank god it was on the short side of it.
