I heard a nasty little rumor that WDP has been outsourcing the manufacturing of Angels to some distant factory in China. Can this be true?

It's no rumor, it's been public knowledge for some time now.

as you will find with most markers the components tend to be manufactured in the far east, and most likely assembled closer to home.

I won't be buying one. Was the A1 the first?

You may want to get used to the fact of "far east manufacture". The same has happened with the textile and other industries...go where the labor is cheapest. For 27 years I worked in U.S. factories, only to see work the work force dwindle due to foreign competition.

Sure, we can all make a stand...to heck with Wally World and buy only U.S. made products... (tell me where we can buy only U.S. products). Manufacturing tolerances can be held overseas just like in the States or England...BUT, they can be held at 1/10th the costs.

Don't shun Angel for doing what every one else in the world is doing. Do you not shop at WalMart? It goes far deeper than we would like to admit.

Mods...this was not intended to be a "flame" or a hijack. Just expressing a view....

you will also find that the companies in the far east are usually under english or american management and therefore quality control.

a lot of work is being shifted from the UK to eastern block countries like Lithuania and Poland these days.

well ill spill the beans since were on that topic, bank of america is outsourcing everything to india but india is using a US address so know one would ever know the work is being done in india, i know because they asked my mom to travel there and train them....so if you have anything with BOA id suggest getting it out now, they already have the home loans and car loans over there

Guys, were in the electronic age. Certain things will remain manfactured in the ol' USA under federal regulations. While "anything goes" for the balance of it. I remember when I was a kid anything tagged "Made in Japan" was junk. Now we hunt out that mark as well made goods! lol Do you really think that cell phones or Ipod's are cheep? You can thank China for that. If they were made here they would cost triple what you see now. It's only a matter of time before they start charging more for the products we think are great bargans now. Then the Corporate american companies will find another third world nation to get the best deal from.

When did WDP start outsourcing to China? My 05 says "made in England." If having products made in China is so much cheaper, why aren't their products that much cheaper? I just don't like the idea of paying the same price for the same product made in a country where the manufacturing costs are only a fraction of what they were in the previous place of manufacturing.

Since the A1 and it is not really out sourced, they up an moved their whole manufacturing line to the Far East and built their own Factory from the ground up and filled it with the machines from England.
