I'm just getting into paintball, I've played a few times, and I've done plenty of research.

Everyone is telling me to get an Ion, but I hate the way they feel, and much like a honda civic, everyone has one.

I want an 05 Speed, but I have to save up for it; I don't have a job, because nobody around here will hire me.

I'm starting my own business to make the money,

How cheap can I get an 05 speed, and is it really worth it?

you can get them from 300-400 used depending on what comes with it. compared to the ion it kicks butt. i would go with the speed before i even thaught of an ion. i own one and i love it. angel is way better than smart parts anyway.

I really enjoy angel's style, and I've seen them fire - they're very accurate,

My problem is, I don't really think I want to save up 3 - 400 dollars to get a great gun,

I was thinking, what about the Angel A4? I don't really want Sensi, is the Fly/Speed model without sensi?

An 05 Speed isn't worth it for you. No offense but, you're a noob and you don't need a high-end gun like that. Start off slow. Get a VS-2, Ion, or Diablo Wrath. Trust me, you WILL get made fun of at a field if you buy a gun like that, and you've barely even played.

I fully understand your reasoning thoughts. I would go for an A4 fly! Lately you can get one for around 300 or so. That would be an excellent choice for a first Angel for the money. They have every thing the speed does, eyes, soft face bolt, pretty much the same internals along with the LCD screen. They are built like tanks and take normal maintenance to keep up. I got many Angles and still keep the A4 fly. No offense but an Ion.... really?

Second thought... You will still need a low pressure tank and a loader. I have see over the last 3 months or so on AOG package deals like this for a bit more. But I still would shoot for the A4 fly deal.

Heh, well, sorry if this sounds ignorant, but I can't really take you seriously if you suggest I buy an ion. I understand that they really aren't that bad of a gun, but I'd rather buy an angel 05 speed, and be made fun of for having a gun that's unique, than buying an ion, and showing up and having 6 kids with ions greet me with "Hey, nice gun." As they pull out the exact same thing.

I posted this a while ago, with a lot less of an idea about paintball. Recently, I've been doing a lot more reading, get a lot more hands-on, and talking with a lot more people, and I realize that the 05 speed is the best choice. I've used Spyders with their §§§§ty electronic triggers, I've seen diagrams and all of that junk, I've taken apart and put some guns back together, and honestly, since I have the money; I think I should do it, because it's not like I'm getting money off of my parents to ball.

Don't you get it? You are not at that level to get an 05 Speed! Everyone is going to like they way your gun shoots and looks but once they see how you play, they're going to think you're a little bitch who can't work their way up. You don't need a gun like that and I doubt you have any experience with electronic guns. I'm really not trying to make fun of you but, you should work you're way up instead of going for the high-end gear. You said that you don't even have the money to buy a Speed, do how are you going to buy a hopper that can feed 20+ Bps? How are you going to afford paint? How are you going to buy a tank for at least $150? Once you think about it, you're gonna have to spend a lot of money. Go with an Ion. It is the best choice for new players. A VS-2 would also be a good gun for the beginner. These guns are not the best, buy you do not need any better. If really do not want those guns, then get a Proto Matrix Rail. They retail for $400 and are good guns. Not just for the beginner. You shouldn't buy that Speed. This stuff is a lot more complicated than you think. Do you know what Dwell is? Do you know what Debounce is? Do you know what the NPPL and PSP are? You will get really lost if this is you're first gun.

Dude, You don't have to be so rude.

First of all, you know nothing of how I play,
Second of all, like I said, I posted that a while ago, since I've gotten a job, I've made 800$ in 2 weeks, so I have plenty of extra cash.

I posted this thread when I was unsure of what gun I wanted, since then, I'm convinved I want the Angel 05 speed, and telling me I don't deserve it, even if I pay for it, is just blatently idiotic. [Especially when you're urging me to buy an ion]

I've fired multiple electronic guns. I've played with a few shockers, a nerve, an angel 06 speed, fired an a1, fired some a4s and other angels, played with an ion, a few cockers, some lame piranhas and spyders, and out of all of the above, the angels are what I liked the most, I liked them all..

I'm currently in the middle of a transaction for an Empire reloader B, a 45/45 LP tank, and a 05 speed with G7 eyes, V7 software, a softface bolt, CP rail and an on/off.

You clearly have no idea what you are on about. Ion's are still an electronic marker, therefore have all the electronic settings of any other marker.

Buy the ion, shoot it, hate it, sell it at a loss and buy an 05 speed anyway?

Take my word for it, buy the Angel. Lower maintenance than an Ion, clear and concise manual, loads of help, basically a lifetime warranty from WDP. something goes wrong for you give them a call and they will be happy to help over the phone.

Ion's require lots of maintenance, lots of money spent to make them anywhere near good. ANGELS ARE NOT MADE OF TUPPERWARE!!!!!

And yes, I have owned both markers, have been playing for a long time, and do kind of know what i am talking about........

i think, if you want an 05 speed and you can get one then get it, the only way to get better is to play and the 05 will help you alot, thats my marker of choice and i am very content with it over my g7, it has a good feel to it......so i say go for it

Do you know anything about paintball? You will be lost on it and nobody will help because they know you're just another noob with an expensive gun. You don't deserve it even if you pay for. It doesn't matter. You are still a noob and I guarantee that you suck and you don't know anything about electronics.

If we can't be civil in here, then it's going to be vacation time.

There is no need to put someone down because he's a noob, everyone was a noob at one point and time.

The proper thing to do is help and educate the younger players so the sport can grow, not bash them down.

Start the flame war again and you will be gone, this is your 1st and final warning to everyone in this thread.

I'm not trying to put him down. I'm just saying that he is a new player and doesn't need a high-end gun like that because he doesn't know about electronics and he will be lost with it. He doesn't even know what dwell and debounce is so how is possibly going to maintain his gun?

Then why don't you help him out and explain things to him instead of being an ass about it.

Who are you to say what someone deserves?

Like I said, keep it civil.

I was explaining things to him. I'm a normal paintballer to say what someone deserves. A person who is new to the game should not be shooting a high-end marker.

why not? if he has earned is money, he is entitled to spend it as he wishes. I think an 05 is a great marker for anybody. Ions are little heaps of rubbish. and yes I have owned one, it was rubbish too.

If you go ahead with the speed and need any help chap, drop me a line anytime.

>.> How do you know that I don't know that? I've talked to my friend Seth, I'll get his PBN account some time, but he's educated me on plenty. Dwell is the time the air valve is open, adjusting your dwell can make or break you, is what I know from that point, how to adjust it is something I'll find out on the way :P

And I know about trigger bounce, and how if the interval of signals sent to the board is too uneven, it'll register as two trigger pulls, so I can only imagine what debounce is. -.-

Im guessing you prolly have possesion of the 05 speed you wanted (if not bummer). Just checking up to see how you are enjoying the marker and to welcome you to the Angel family.

remember always keep reading to find out more about your series of marker. Im guessing your under the 18 age bracket by the job search you mentioned (if not my bad) but if u r one of the kiddies i commend you for buying the setup yourself instead of relying on momy and daddy to finance your newfound hobby.

excatly!! if you can afford it buy what you want....a speed over a rail or a ion is BY FAR a better choice, they both require alot of maintance due to there design ie. greasing every time you play (TO KEEP IT UP TO DATE, but you done have to but why ruin a 3-600$$ gun by "friction" oring problems etc) I know that metal to metal is a bad thing and thats what grease and orings are for but hey §§§§ happens and worst case a whole new bolt setup.

No I havent owned a Ion or a matrix(any kind) but my brother in law has and I can tell you I had my gat sittin around for a year straight never once touched it, then I just happened to play a tourney and I dropped a few drops of oil in the macroline and the little biznitch shot so sweet I thought she was a A1 (from what I have read  )

But its all personal pref. if you want a 05 speed get one, but remember, YOU DONT HAVE TO GREASE THE BOLT EVERY TIME YOU PLAY, just give it a drop or 2 of love juice and your good to go, but if they complain about eye faults, board problems or anything else, just think a ion and rail can have the same thing, its just luck of the draw for what fails and what doesnt

my first marker was a spider. second was 05 speed. if you've researched 05 speeds before you bought then you knew more about them than when I bought mine. I bought mine because my son had a fly and I liked it.

My recommendation is you buy what you can afford and grow into it if necessary. Saves you money in the long run that way.

completely passing over most of the thread and getting straight to the point my backup marker is a lasoya promaster, awesome marker even by angel standards, its super fast and accurate, and u can get one off ebay for 150.00 thats w shipping and buy it now. there are only about 3 things you would have to put on it a clamping feedneck macro line and an on off air adapter, but it will only run on air not co2

i know i know angels are better but if u have to save up u have to save up and by the way air tanks are more expensive than co2 but you would need 1 for the 05 anyway

for the sake of first markers my first was a 03 cocker that i upgraded with all palmers pneu's and threw on a raceframe and eyes. i eventually sold that to help buyout NW paintalls stock of markers and ended up with 4 different angels and 20 others. I knew angel was good back in the day but i never researched it untill i had upgraded the cocker and it all went from there. and all that was in my late teens. Now im 20 (stil a baby) but i do a TON of research about majority of the stuff i buy. pros and cons and testing.

off the origional topic a bit but this is long dead neways
