ramping is the accumulation of shots faster than you can actualy pull the trigger. hard ramp is a fast initial ramp and soft is a slower ramp. the a1 manual will tell you how to properly set the settings based on your needs

Well - it's kind of hard to explain better than the way it is written in the manual.
Each ramping mode has basically two settings - how many times per second you must pull the trigger for the ramping (shooting faster than you pull) to activate (kick in) and how many trigger pulls per second you must maintain ever after for the ramping to remain active (drop out)... There's nothing more to it...
When it comes to the breakout modes they're designed for speedball games when you're running off the break - they're even more hard-core than normal ramping - the marker virtually shoots for you. This is because when you're moving it's hard to maintain a high bps count and hence the marker "helps" you in that matter for a couple of seconds until you reach your designated position and can take over manually. =)

it easy.
first select custom mode.
second select the mode that you require, soft or hard ramp or any of the break out features.
then go to the ramp setting that you have selected.
set your start delay (This is the number of normal shots fired before any ramping will start)
Set your Kick in point. (This is the rate of trigger pulls that must be achieved to start the gun rampin)
Set your drop out point (This is the rate that trigger pulls must be maintained above in order to sustain ramping).
And that is it.
So for example.
if I had a start delay of 10.
a kick in of 6,
a drop out of 4.
I could fire 10 shots in semi regardless of the rate that I pulled the trigger.
then as I reach a rate of trigger pulls above 6 the gun will begin to ramp, and aslong as I maintain a rate of trigger pulls above 4 (my drop out point) the gun will continue to ramp.

Is this legal in tournament play? Or just a little "cheat" and hope the refs don't catch you. Also, if you've started ramping but then stop shooting. You will have to shoot the 10 delay shots, than the kick of 6, and it will start ramping again?
What's the best setting to have it on to not get caught?
(thanks frazer the information is very helpful)

Best is don't ramp. Work on walking the trigger on semi.

sorry to bring this thread back up, but the question of "what is hard/soft ramp?" is still not answered. i understand the whole start delay/kick in/sustain thing but where does the hard or soft come into play? Hard ramp kicks in faster i assume, so whats the use of that if you've already set your kick in number to your desired point?
Or is it like this?:
(Lets say or bps cap is at 15)
Hard Ramp: Once Start delay and kick in rate are reached, ramping instantly goes to 15 bps as long as sustained rate is constant.
Soft Ramp: Once Start delay and kick in rate are reached, ramping works its way up to 15 bps in __bps increments (not instant) as long as sustained rate is constant.

So your gun will not ramp at all if custom mode is not selected or any other mode besides Semi or Auto?
I could have sworn my gun ramped a little on semi, it shot 3 balls for one trigger pull
Sounds more like mechanical bounce.

Bob is correct, if you want the gun to "ramp" then the only way to get it to do this is to select a custom mode and choose between hard and soft ramping options.

is there a "turbo mode"? does any recall this mode on the older angels, which shoots twice the spped of your trigger pull.
