I play for the Warbirds, we were picked up by WDP earlier this year, as we all shoot A1's we all have been using Vlocitys as JT is behind us too.
Well anyways, we never really noticed anything wrong with the Vlocity on our A1's other some of them were shooting inconsistant streams of paint and the ramping seemed sorta "slow" at times.

Well at Chicago this past weekend one of our Vlocitys went down due to the rain, so one of my teammates threw his Halo B on his A1. And well when he ran it through the chrono-station everyone's heads turned. It was sounded AMAZING. I mean the stream was very FAST and very very consistant.
He brought it out the next game and you could instantly tell a huge differance with the Halo B on the A1 rather then the vlocity.

I'm wondering if anyone else has stumbled upon this?
This weekend at practice we're going to run some tests comparing the two hoppers. Someone suggested having most of the Vlocitys at a lower setting such as 1-3 could be the reasoning behind the somewhat inconsistant ramping, but anything over setting 4 is pretty hard on the paint...

Your thoughts?

I have an angry halo w/rip and x-mod motor as my backup to my pulse (RF chip installed in my A1) and honestly the only reason the Halo isn't my primary is because ofthe sync function of the pulse. The Angry halo is rock solid and supplies paint every bit as fast and almost as consistant as my sync'd pulse, and is definitely more durable than my pulse. I can't wait till the V-10 cheetah board arrives. I don't have alot of experience with the vlocity, but I can tell you that without the gangster chip your not getting the full potential of the vlocity.

turn the velocity up to atleast 5 for PSP, even on setting 8 its still softer on paint that most halos/reloaders.

What I will say about the Vlocity is that it eats the batterys, the Joy guys change out the batteries after 3 games, because the Vlocity will start to slow down after that number of games, they also have been running with the Vlocity that is now being sold as the XSV Velocity, this has a modified paddle that also operates like the spring in the Halo to put tension on the balls to make the Vlocity fast for breakouts and snap shooting and has different software to the stock Vlocity and it performs like a champ. The Joy guys have had these loaders since HB
I have always found Halo B's to be harder on paint than any other loader, they may be fast, but in my opinion they cause quite a number of ball breakages in guns. My advise would be to contact the guys at JT and ask about getting a XSV Vlocity.

our team shoots also with A1's en we noticed it a time ago that a reloader b is much faster on an A1 then the Vlocity.

velocity + gangstar chip is my primary at the moment,
insane fast.. thou, put 4500+ balls thru with new batteries and
it had drop'd down to 12bps millennium, wether thats good or not..
you'll have to ask someone else ;) cut the feedneck like 8-10mm and
its the best setup i ever had, along with the stiffi its.. pure sX

have a reloader b and a standard velocity as backup,
and i think i'd pick the velo still.

(edit: shooting hellfire like ropes with GS settings breakout 0 speed 10 tension 2)

I am also running the Vlocity w/ Gangstar chip, It is not only lighter than my halo but appears to be faster too. The Gangstar software saves battery life and with all the different settings you can't go wrong.

I have a Vlocity JR with a select force chip and it seems to outperform my Halo B w/ V35 in terms of both consistancy and speed.

I have a vlocity with gangstar chip and its the best hopper i have ever used. I shoot streams of paint on the slowest setting of the ganstar chip. The slowest setting saves batteries and can dish out 20 bps easy. I also have rechargable batteries and I usually get 2-3 cases easy on slowest setting but I also leave my vlocity on all day. And my constistency over chrono last time I shot was 251, 251 ,249, 251. A1 is the most consistent marker I have ever seen and I don't regret getting it over an 07 ego. I love my angel and wouldn't trade it for anything. Sorry to steal this thread but my A1 leaks out of breach when I first air it up but then when I turn the breach knob it stops or take the first shot? What is wrong with it? Is this normal? My friends a1 does this also.

I think my boost Halo B is plenty fast and good streams of paint. I still have never broken a ball with my A1/Halo B

My Vlocity w Gangstar works great! The Gangstar chip has dramatically helped with the battery consumption and definitely juiced up the speed. I haven't broken a ball in my loader yet after 12+ cases of paint.

My Vlocity Jr wasn't anything special until I put a Gangstar chip in it. It functions much better than my modded Halo B or my Empire B. I can shoot consistent, uninterrupted ropes and its still easy on the paint. I've never really liked any hopper as much as this one before. I like it so much I went out and grabbed another as a backup and both my Halo and Empire are gonna be sold soon.

Make sure you're using quality 9 volts like Duracell, I use a stock vlocity on mine and it's fast and consistent.

I have a boosted Vlocity and a lucky chip and the thing absolutely rips! It sounds like the gangstar has a LOT more modes and ways to mess with it than the lucky does. Either way both are dirt cheap and worth it just to save in the battery expense.

Thanks everyone for your input.

Sounds like the majority of people here recommend the Vlocity with a chip.
I'll have to look into that, I'm a pretty big Vlocity fan myself, never really liked the weight of a HaloB to begin with.

I'll run this thread past my captain and maybe it'll help with wether we decide to do a switch over to HaloB's, or everyone just buy a chip.

Thanks again.

OK, I will offer my experiences/opinions. Your results may vary.

In the last 2 years I’ve had:

Reloader B
2 VLocitys
Halo B with stock board
Halo B with Intellifeed
Halo B with Victory board
Halo B with Cheetah V3 board
Vlocity Jr with stock chip
VLocity Jr with Gangstar chip

The Reloader B was fast, but hard on paint. I hate breaking paint in the hopper/gun/barrel when I’m playing, so I ended up hating the Reloader B.

I bought a VLocity to replace the Reloader B. It did not feed “25 bps on gun”. In fact, 17-18 bps was the best I could get out of it. It was very consistent though. The Reloader B was doing 19-21 bps on gun. I thought I might have the “ghost problem” that was popular on PBN when the VLocitys came out, so I returned it and got another one. VL #2 had exactly the same results.

The VLocitys were munching a pair of 9Vs every 2 cases and I was obsessed with having the fastest loader possible so I bought a Halo. It was the slowest of the bunch so I bought an intellifeed kit. The intellifeed seemed to help consistency and was a couple bps faster. Next I bought a Victory board. On setting “6” this got the Halo up to Reloader B+ speeds. I sold the intellifeed to Technix2002 and upon comparing the Angry and Cheetah boards went for the big money “fastest” board – the Cheetah. It IS fast, I have a goldwave of the Cheetah’d Halo actually shooting 30 bps – at least 30 §peak bps.

Things were good for a while except for needing to replace the eyes twice and needing a delrin drivecone. That one doesn’t even count because everyone knows the stock Halo drivecones don’t last.

I realized I needed a backup hopper and since I had my “hot rod” Cheetah’d Halo I looked at the VLocitys again because my previous VLocitys were very consistent and were quite gentle on paint at the lower settings. I used an Epiphany with a Vlocity JR and LOVED the bigger feed mouth versus the VLocitys I had owned before so I bought a Jr. The Jr kept up on PSP ramping, was gentle on paint, and basically worked well except for munching a set of 9Vs every 3 cases.

I bought the Gangstar chip because it was advertised to save on batteries and mainly because it was only $30. It transformed the Jr. It’s the 2nd fastest hopper I’ve owned next to the Cheetah’d Halo. The battery life improved to 3-4 cases of paint which is not great, but better. I love the separate adjustments for speed and ball stack tension. It is very gentle on paint, and more consistent than any of the Halo based hoppers. I have actually been using the Jr as my primary hopper lately and the Halo as my backup.

One of my teammates swears by his Pulse. It IS fast. His will do 21 bps consistently without the RF transmitter. The feednecks are every bit as brittle as rumored. He plays more with borrowed hoppers than with the Pulse because it keeps breaking.

Somewhere in that timeline I was using a Speedwheel on the Halo. I never came to a conclusion about it before getting the Cheetah. Predator Electronics says not to use a Speedwheel with a Cheetah board.

For the Gangstar VLocity chip I recommend:

Mode: full force
Speed: max
Tension: 3-5 for paint, max for reballs
Breakout: off if you’re playing legal, otherwise as needed

The tension setting does seem to make a difference in speed, especially with reballs. Setting the tension at minimum=slow with reballs, tension at max=rippage.

Boost,
Great info! Probably worth a sticky somewhere? I have gone through similar trials over the years and have also ended up back at the Vlocity hopper with after market chip(Blitz chip) with performance equal to yours. Ganstar and Blitz chips are both great upgrades for the Vlocity. Good luck.

Sounds great BOOST. I am really starting to feel good about buying one of the last Cheetah boards made now. I was starting to have second thaughts since I put a Shockteck hot rod kit in and started breaking balls in my Halo. But now I can get rid of the speed gears and go back to stock. Thanks for the input.
