Last i heard from WDP was that prototypes where due back
for test retrofit any day, that was just over a week ago.
Still no word if it was final but i'm sure Frazer or Bob could shed
some light on that.

Above statement reason for my comment,
formed as a question hense the ? after..

I've done it like 20 times on olive A1's,
not a mark, i am sure Bob and all the other techs would like to
know HOW he got the anno scratch'd by plastic eyecovers,
so we who do it often can either avoid or tell him how to do it right.

I would never laugh at someone, or make fun of,
when i almost cry my heart out when i got a scratch on MY a1..

Are you sure it was not any type of metal tool that you used to lift up the arm of the eye strap that may have scratched your markers body? You could rub the eye cover straps up and down a body of a marker and the eye straps will not scratch the body.

I put on and take off eye covers almost daily... especially on weekends during practices (our team, another angel team) and have never seen them scratch the anno. What re you using to take the covers off?

Why do you take your eye covers on and off daily? Are you chopping that much paint?

Some people are strange like that, they strip their guns down all the time. Keeping your equipment clean is important but the levels that some guys take it to is sometimes stretching things just a little.

Didn't say I took mine off on a daily basis. Multiple markers, including those of our team (Terrible Turks) and Team Akay as well as the ones that people bring in to get sth looked at.

Generally I don't take the eyes out if I chop paint, as a quick fix we have a spray can of air that usually does the trick. Usually a weekly clean does well for me.

Frazer although I admit to being strange (I play two very masochistic sports semi-professionally) it doesn't have to do with Angel 1's yet. :P

The eye covers are really nice. They are as close to idiot proof as can be. Everyone who gets a pair is going to be completely happy with them. The red ones that Bob took a pic of looked really pimp on the Rage A1.

3 PIECE EYE COVERS

The Angel design team has been working hard to re-model the existing A1 eye covers to make them more user friendly during marker maintenance.

The main issue of the arms breaking during removal and installation has been resolved with a new three piece eye cover. This design incorporates two tapered arms with molded tram lines and a familiar front section with two shorter arms attached. Attaching the eye cover is now a simple task and can de done by holding the two arms in place then sliding the front section on and securing in place with the valve chamber maintenance plug. A new longer anti-double ball finger made with a more flexible material has been built into the design and is interchangeable.
As with all A1 upgrades the new design will retro fit into all A1 models. The eye covers will be available by the 13th August in black only although some fancy chrome colors are due to be released at a later date.

Nope... definitely a new style for the detents. Gonna have to upgrade your spare detents as well if making the switch. I'll still hold onto mine (and the stock eye covers), though... you never know what problems you might run into.

lol i thought the same thing when i saw the blue sticking out =) I also spray painted my current eye covers in gloss black and then clear coated them.
