The eyes on my new un1 board-Nox chip combo have stopped detecting paint. Thats it. They eyes are still shining, but they refuse to detect any paint. It just flashes blue and black (indicating no ball in the chamber), and it will refuse to do anything else.

I have already checked that it is not the eye's fault, as i removed them, and it just continued flashing blue and black, not even detecting the eye fault. If anyone owns/has worked with a lucky board (especially if you used it with a nox chip) your help is GREATLY appreciated.

throw in your stock board and use the Eye check. If it passes on the board, then either your lucky board or chip is at fault. If the eye check doesn;t work, then you will need to get new eyes.

i bet the eyes are possibly on their way to failing.

Regardless, i'm going to have to send it to Bob tomorrow or Saturday.

dont bother just replace the eyes. its due to a difference in voltage used to operate the eye system. the nox uses a lower voltage and if you use the eyes in the stock board they will not work in the nox. its the same with the tadao boards. i have both so this is experience talking here. your board and chip are just fine. your eyes need to be replaced. and dont test the new ones with the stock board or you will be in the same situation again.

Sounds great, thanks!

Unfortunatly, THAT plan didn't work. The eyes still refuse to detect paint in the breach, and now the chip refuses to activate the 'noid at all!

Man, this is just getting insane, i have been without a working marker for weeks now!

Just go stock for a while.

That was my plan for playing this weekend, i just need to hear back from Bob on weather he needs the whole gun, or just the board-eyes.

Just for clarity, did the board/chip combo work originally and then stop or was it fubar from the getgo?

I am the Nox programmer/electrical designer and will be looking into paint detection problems with the Angel Uni1/Nox combo and stock eyes. I will be receiving a board/eye combo in a week or so that is not working and will take a close look at the problem with my scope. In the mean time, any info you can provide will help me diagnose the problem.

Thanks,
Jamie

If the eyes turn on with the stock board, detect paint, and pass the eye test then it's obviously a board issue with the lucky board or the chip I am not familiar with either. But with anything in paintball, the problem probably has been around with similar setups, like my Tadao chipped DM board for my DM4. The eyes worked fine with the stock chip, but wouldn't with the Tadao, until I reset the chip and it was fine. Voltage differences between the boards don't mean anything. For conversations sake let us say that the eyes ribbon can handle 3 volts and require 1 volts to work. If the stock board uses 2.5 volts and the Lucky 1.8 it doesn't matter if you used it on a stock board with the higher voltage first. You don't change anything with the eyes ribbon cable until you go outside the max voltage to which it can handle. So pretty much unless the ribbon cable was burnt up then it's a no brainer and the Board/Chip combo is at fault somewhere. Where is a question that I can't answer. But you have to trouble shoot it. for2nato has experience no doubt, however each issue with electronics has to be looked at as a unique error so that you can effectively trouble shoot the issue. From what I gather it's your board/chip combo. I would put in your stock board, use that for a few weekends and in the mean time send it back in to the manufacturer for replacement on the assumption that your combo never worked in the first place. If your combo did work then it can still be the board as you found out from replacing the eyes. Good luck and let us know the outcome.
