What do you HATE most about your a1 and if you could have something changed what would it be.

+1 on that... I'd also prefer a stock front reg mount instead of the mini-reg, although I'm really liking the CP one on my gun.

I went to take mine off for cleaning. following the method shown in videos (using cards to gently prop the sides open) and broke off one of the covers. this was a BRAND new gun, first time ever removing eye covers. I tried to be as gentle as possible. I was really pissed.


I think too a close look at the eye covers and notices there is VERY LITTLE material at th major stress point. (there the 'leg' meets the front face) Now... I think that if i were to design a part.. i would have thought about that.. and either beefed up that section.. or made out of a more pliable material. I remember the early eye covers were softer (so the forums say) and that the had problems holding in the eyes / detents. I ordered 3 replacements already (good thing they are not TOO expensive, $10 from FMA) but still. That is a part that would be removed for regular servicing / maintence / cleaning. Why design it so brittle that you have to take it off with kid gloves? I much more preferred the eye covers with screws and plates. i never broke one of those.

i have removed my eye covers like 50 times. never broke one. you just need to pull from the front and lit the cards do there job.

I figured i forced something i should not have...

Where did you grab to pull it forward? Did you use a specific tools? I am just trying to understand how to do this proper. I mean don't get me wrong.. i LOVE this gun. it shoots AMAZING.

I have been thinking about this... and i have some other ideas for "fixing" the eye covers. If i come up with anything, i will put a post here.

love the opto-boardDitto on the eye covers but if you take your time, they are a breeze. Besides, they are working on the better design.

The other complaint is that it is way too easy to go through so much freaking paint without a break to slow you down lol get expensive lol.

i just put the cards in. then use a dental tool and pull the eye covers out from the front till i can get my hands on them. then i use my fingers and pull striaght from the front. do not move form side to side just striaght out

im not a fan of the eye covers either, nor did i ever like the opto boards. I have had many generations of angels, and the board was always gutted for a switch...
