Well one of these days i'm going to buy a speed, and I'm concerned about a halo not fitting into the gate feed. I'm sort of reluctant to make it stay put by jamming two screws into the sides of the HALO's feed neck, since I dont want to crack it... (I have never owned a halo or a gated feed) ... When i do this, should I keep the gated feed or buy an aftermarket clamp feed?

With my ir3 I never seemed to use the gatted feed. I would say buy an aftermarket one.

I know that you have to sand the neck of the Halo, so either way you'll be sanding down a feedneck to get the fit you want. Just make sure you don't go too far.

so i guess buying an aftermarket clamp feed would be a good idea...

why? you don't think the gated feed with a sanded fit will be enough to hold the hopper in?

it could be, but with a clamp you can really get it in there and not have to sand it down. I really don't like the idea of sanding a $150 loader. Besides, it will wear down eventually....darn that friction... i used an intimidator this weekend, and its clamp feed made the halo feel really snugly on there, not just sort of shoved in. I guess it's personal preference. I just wanted to know if anyone really notices much of an advantage from the gate feed.

it adds a lil confidence when you KNOW your hopper wont fall out

Halos dont need a Gated Feed anyways. Since they are force feed, the balls wont go back into ur hopper.

But what about when you are low on paint in your hopper and it isn't force feeding anymore?

"...Andrew Spurlock of Team Maxim came out in their first game against Dynasty and lost his hopper, and it lay idle about four feet away from cover..."

Case in point :-)

Even if he was using a clamping feed neck it wouldnt have made any difference, because, as you can see in the picture, his feedneck fell of the gun. No feed neck = no loader.
