View Full Version : Is a G7 Fly more reliable than an A1?

So, I had a Rage A1... and it was the mosts amazing marker I've ever owned for one week... then the bolt started to stick randomly and by 2 weeks later, it was sticking every shot... I thought mine was a fluke, but our team bought 7 and after 2 CFOA events... only one A1 is still somewhat functional (I determine that as the bolt sticks once or twice per hopper full). In addition, I hate the Breech design on the A1 because it had no confidence that it was in place correctly because it uses the bolt to keep the breech down... and mine never lined up correctly, so I had to move the bolt pin with a small allen key to close the rotobreach... I can't wait to have an angel with a roto breach rod to ensure the breach is locked in place.
I loved the feel of the Angel... so I just picked up a G7 Fly and dumped the A1... did the G7 Fly/G7 platforms prove to be reliable? Since the "paint setting" on an A1 is just the bolt delay setting with a different name... are there any other "improvements" that I'll be missing with the G7 Fly?
I understand the A1 is a new design and there will be issues that develop, but I'm under the impression that the G7 Fly is quite an amazing marker.

I have never had a problem with my G7 Fly nor did I have one with my A1.
If you are a sponsored team (I am guessing you were), you should have taken advantage of the team support package that came with the A1s. That would have ensured having your A1 work as it should have.
Did you try to get the A1 serviced before you dumped it?

Yep.. I sent mine off to Performance Angel because it was about a month before the next event. The team gave theirs to the Angel rep at the CFOA and the rep swapped out rams "because its definately that" but it still stuck, then he replaced the valves "because it definately was that if not the ram", he then replaced solenoids "because it definately has to be solenoids" and they still at bolt stick problems at the event... so everyone went back to their guns they shot before the sponsorship, and they ended up with a top 5 finish... and I couldnt convince them to try the angels again. They are done with them... I don't know what channel you speak of... there is no angel tech in our area...we either mail it off or wait and take them to PSP/CFOA events for work...
I just got my gun back today... so I'm gonna test it out, but I've already been offered a DM6 for it.. so I'm probably gonna do the trade and buy this G7 Fly that I've been looking at on nation.
All I can say is that my A1 experience has been that of a GIANT tease... for teh first week, it was the most amazing marker I've ever shot... then the bolt started sticking and wasnt usable.

I also meant to add that the team was aggrivated because on the rare occurrance that their DM or Shocker was down... they could pop out the bolt, replace an oring or relube the bolt, and they'd be back in business. But they couldn't fix anything on the A1 because most things require a near full disassembly of the marker... and they weren't comfortable with that.
