View Full Version : A1 kick :(
K I was having trouble with my A1 because I didnet get my gauges yet in the mail, I was at this tourny this weekend and we gave the A1 a try and it chopped like a mofo... then there was this other guy with an A1 so I asked him If he had the gauges, he did, we set the lpr at the recomended 57psi, it worked flawlesly, exept that i still only get around 500-600shots off a 68ci 3000psi fill, and my A1 has quite a bit of kick to it...
I have 2.2 software and V2 parts and using Joy settings, can any1 help?

How is your paint to barrel match?
it was just going trew good, wasent getting stuck half way or anything, i could have maybe put a size smaller but i stayed on the safe side.

How much paint have you put through the Marker since you have had it?, you should see an improvement of gas to paint when its run in with 10 or 15 boxes a paint :) I'm no tech but that stands for virtually all markers I believe. Regards

Maybe a little lube might help with the kick. Worth a try.
I probably only have about 2-2.5 case of paint and 2 cases of reballs trew it, so its not mutch, and i tried the love juice in the macro line thing, but ill try to lube all the parts myself and see if it helps

lubing it won't reduce the kick. you need to break the gun in and then tweak your settings.

Really it needs to be broke in. I hated my A1 to start, because it was an incredible air-hog. after about 10 or 12 cases in started to improve dramatically, after about 20 it's on par with most other newer markers. I don't think it will ever be as efficient as my old Angels though.
ya, im at around 6 case now, and i notice a small improvement in the kick, havent really paid attention to the efficiancy lately, ill update sunday night after the walk-on. Im going to a tourny next weekend, im gonna try to brake it in befor then.

i would say that your LPR is too high, the LPR pressure is the pressure that cycles the marker if it is too high then the ram is going forwards and backwards with too much force behind it and that is what you are feeling when you say that the kick is too much. So I would get the pressures looked at and make sure that you have them set correctly.
Frazer@wdp.tv
so are you saying that if i still feal kick, even if my my lpr is set to 57psi, i should lower it even further till the kick goes away?

Just a suggestion:
Make sure your LPR is really 57. It's worth re-testing. Make sure you are using the newer (corrected) guages. A small number of the original guages had incorrect scales. Some of the older guages for LPR went from 0-800. You can't calibrate 57 on that scale (believe me, I tried). Make sure your LPr guage goes from 0-150.
Best of luck. Keep us posted of your progress.
EDIT:
I don't think you should lower your LPR below 57, if that's realy what your LPR is at right now, but i'll let the MT's weight in on that.

Before you set the LPR always check and set the mini reg first, on the A1 set the mini reg to 270psi, then set the LPR to just below 60psi.
frazer@wdp.tv
My lpr gauge should be in soon, but the mini reg gauge i ordered is on backorder, so i wont be able to set it properly:get:

Also dont expect much more than 600 off a 68/3000. A 68/3000 is about equivalent to a 45/45 so the 600 may improve to about 700 but its not going to be a huge increase....
well i actually just got all my stuff in the mail a couple of minutes ago, exept for my hpr gauge(its on backorder), i double checked the lpr pressure and its right on 57psi, theres still some kick, will it go away with further bracking in? ive got about 9cases trew my A1 now... I might also be shooting high because I dont have a chrono at homee but im going to the field sunday ill see how it works out then.:worthy:

There will ALWAYS be some kick in every gun. The laws of physics will not allow you to have 0 kick so if you are looking for something with 0 kick you'll never find it. The A1 does have minimal kick and its a good kind of kick in that its straight back and not in a way that will cause the barrel to stray.
it kicks more then my last gun, and i didnt pay 1K$ for something that kicks more, my ion had close to no kick, you couldent feal it. So it better go away or ill be very disapointed in WDP for making such a bautiful marker that feal like a shotgun:thumbsdow

Like Frazer said earlier, set your mini-reg also [and FIRST] if you haven't done so. What you're describing sounds like way too much kick. I've also played with an ion, and have not noticed any more 'kick' than my angel a1.
Ill check my hpr when i receive the gauge for it, like i sead i can't do so because its on backorder. I was wondering, if the lpr is at 57psi and you chrony your gun to arount 280fps, doesent that mean your hpr is 270ish?
Let me know, because if my hpr is not properly set, that might be where all that kick is commin from.

You can't properly set your marker by just setting your lpr first. You need to set your mini-reg first. If you can, borrow someone's exhaust valve guage and set your mini-reg.
Your marker is not properly set.
EDIT:
see here if you haven't already done so

im pretty mutch the only guy that owns an angel in my whole province lol, I live in N-B canada and the closest guy that owns an A1 is in N-S, and as far as i know he only owns the lpr gauge. Ill look around just to make sure.

Wow:) You need to move down south man. Get some sun. Must be the cold air up there causing the kick.
its not that cold , its just around 20-30 dgree C* around here
k I played with it alot today, shot close to 2 cases, the kick is no longer there:elephant:, but I did get quite a bit of chops and barrel blows, the barrel blows where my fault, I was using a .685 back, it shot great till it got warmer, the balls got bigger, then i was always getting the odd ball blowing in my barrel, but I can't figure out where the chops are comming from...detents where in good condition, eyes where working, using joy settings. let me know what you think...

What is your paint setting at? You may want to lower this if you're shooting fragile paint in cold (or cool) weather. Default with v2.2 is at 4 (Fragile)--did you raise this at all to make the bolt cycle faster?
my paint setting was at 7, i just changed it to 4, will it still shoot 15bps if i set it to the lowest? kuz thats the fastest ill shoot. I was shooting premium, it wasent that fragile, i have to drop it from the height of my head for it to bust on the ground, so its not too brittle. Im thinking it could be my dwell, i got it at 6.5 like joy, but since its colder, maybe i should raise it a bit?

might be worth a try, could also be hoppers crushing brittle balls.

Yes, my gun still needs to be broken in. And i cannot wait for that day. :)

Try changing only one thing at a time--if the paint setting still doesn't eliminate the chops, then bring your dwell up to 7. Personally, I've kept my paint setting at 4 no matter what paint I use (Draxxus and Origin mostly) or the weather conditions and am still able to rock 15 bps with no chops.

Great point. What loader are you using--can its speed be adjusted at all?
im using a pusle right now, but ive got a vlocity jr with gangstar board in the mail, should be here soon
