After a frustrating night and an irritated girlfriend, I can’t get my computers to recognize my A1s.
I followed the instructions precisely and I can’t seem to load the drivers properly. Is there a way to manually load them, or do I have to use preinstaller.exe?
Everything says it’s going okay until I plug the gun into the pc, then I get the message telling me my USB device isn’t recognized.

I think its user error because it’s doing this on my laptop and desktop with 2 different brand new A1s.

Any advice?

Did you load drivers before you plugged the guns in? Or, did you just plug in the gun and and Windows saw an external device with plug and play, then choked?

There is another thread on AOG for downloading the driver pack from WDP and installing the software properly. Go that route first and let us know the steps you take and if you still get the error.

I installed everything first. Normally my computer recognizes anything I throw at it and helps me install it with the Add Hardware Wizard, but with the guns it does not.
Im going to remove everything and try again using the instructions from the thead you are talking about.

Thanks.

Problem solved.
It turns out the usb cable that works just fine with my digital camera was the problem.
I dug out another cable and everything worked perfectly.

Did you use a Mini-b or Mini-A cable? It should be stamped on the connector body "A" or "B"

Thanks.

Both cables are mini B.

I read you are having the same problem I had.
Try to find another cable or go buy one.
The cable that doesnt work with the A1 works just fine with all my other devices.

OK, thanks. I have tried six cables and all of them are Mini-B.

I also had some problems a while back when using my old cameras' USBI A-to-Mini-B cable when I'd left my regular cable at work over the weekend. I just got a brand new USBII A-to-mini-B from the shop the day after and that one worked great just like all the other brand new cables I've used.

Could it be that the cables you guys tried are the old USB standard and it's too slow or not even fully compatible?
