if you haven't used a marker with the space frame yet, you may find that you either don't need or you don't want the drop on there. Because of the grip frame being so far forward already there's no need to bring it even farther forward.....at least that was my opinion, and my reason why I didn't use a drop on it.

So should I just get a Thor reg then? Also, the tank I want is preset to 800 psi, and the Thor says it will do 300-600 psi, does this mean it won't work with my 800 psi preset tank I want?

god no....don't waste the money on a thor...it will do nothing for you really. The minireg will work just fine at giving you the proper input pressures to your new Angel. Preset tanks at ~800psi are just fine. All you really want to do is get something to mount your tank to the grip frame (preferably with an on/off). Honestly I would pick up the marker before buying anything extra for it, then take it into the shop you plan to purchase you accessories from and try them out. See how the sit/feel on the marker. Best of luck with your new purchase.

So its safe to go through the minireg from an asa from the 800 psi preset tank? I just heard others say it might be dangerous and could harm the gun some how. But if that isn't the case then I guess I won't worry about it.

Dustinshell........you will experience no adverse effects on the marker by running 800 psi into the minireg....whoever told you that is not quite up to snuff on just about anything, or was just trying to sell you something else. Look around the picture thread and see how many people are running preset bottles straight into their markers, both LED's, LCD's and IR3's....you'll be just fine.

They might be running lp presets like 450. What is the max output you can put into the minireg anyway?
900 is the most you ever want to run through it, even being at 900 is too much. You don't need to run it that high.
I HAd and herd alot of problems with the srait fittings from wdp ,, they fall apart and stuff.. Are these gonna be new fittings ?

ya but all the wdp techs are saying NOT to run more than 500 psi into the minireg. i dunno why but TAG and Frazier are saying that.
anyways, like emmit said, the ir3 has a natural drop forward feel to it due to the space fram already being a bit tall and a good inch forward. a drop feels uncomfy but a regular duckbill asa makes the gun feel too stretched out and not all enough to sight down the barrel. i find the check-it unimount is PERFECT for comfort with a 68/4500 preset. i am not the only one who thinks this. ask child and a few others around here. they run the same tank setup. heres a pic of the ir3 i just sold with a check-it unimount on it: http://www.angel-owners.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=6307
just for fun heres the speed setup i have planned(already ordered dust blue speed!!!):
- dust blue speed
- clear blue halo B if they really do work on speeds, if not im stickin with my evo2
- a set of 14 in dye ultralites or a 14inch jt barrel set
-check it unimount
- crossfire preset(dunno if need to buy a LP output though...)

Well if a uni-mount isn't comfy with a 88ci 4500 psi I'm still at a loss. And does anyone have a speed manual that tells the max output pressure that the minireg can except safely without damaging the gun? Maybe I should get a tank reg?

Do you think I'd be safe putting a preset 800 psi on it or get a tank reg?
Bottom line, do not, and I repeat do not use a high pressure preset.
If you do you will not be able to get your velocity into a playing range. Once the input to the minireg pressure reaches 700psi, the lowest you will be able to set your velocity will be around 300fps.

I'm running a 750 psi output preset without absolutely no problem. I've been able to get a wide range of velocity adjustments thru the mini-reg.

if you say so, but let me give you a little history.....I've owned/used 3 NitroDuck bottles over the years and used them all on Angels from LED's to IR3's...all have an output of 800-850 or so....all have performed beautifully on my Angels. Buy a screw in to save the money over an adjustable and you'll be fine.

Because the LP operation of the SPEED, apparently it requires an adjustable LP tank. Like the A.I.R. hint, hint. That is what Russ has been explaining to us, I would consider him a reliable source with inside info.
Yep it seems like no 850 pre sets on the speed. The mini-reg is different (internally)
Don't believe me?- ask Frazier...

apparently that news wasn't available before hand.....wonder how many new Speed owners are going to be upset at this new piece of news. Russ came on last night and posted in a few different threads about it (I think this is one of them).....I'd wager that there are a few people that will be more than a little upset that they now have to buy a new bottle to go with their new marker too....

In a way I think WDP is refining the sport. Those that want the ultimate performance and efficiency will go towards the better gear. It does make it harder for those just starting out or with limited funds. Perhaps they can choose to buy something less expensive or gear that is more flexible/compromising/forgiving in nature. The LCD's will be hot on the market once again and so will the IR3's resale value hold. Otherwise people will understand that they need a really good tank to operate the SPEED. Those with A.I.R.'s are extremely happy I'm sure of their decisions right now. I know I'm kicking myself for being cheap and buying a preset.
You could always buy a THOR although I don't hear too many good things about them.
Or..just buy a new inline that can handle it
Sidewinder, Gladiator, Torpedo, Centerflag, Maflow inline, all come to mind

man this sucks so bad. i dont even know what im going to do now. the point of buying the speed was to just get a better marker for a good price. now im just screwed. im afraid if i sell my crossfire 68/4500 800psi output and get a 450psi output it will be too low to use without starving the minireg. the rule is if u are regulating air into another reg to make sure the first reg puts out at least 200psi more than the output of the second reg. considering the speed is probably only going to work efficiently at around 200psi(150 just seems too low), barely making that requirement doesnt seem too good. thats why im afraid to get a 450psi output. not to mention i cant use it on other guns..... i dont want to take a chance and use the 800 either. and i sure as hell cannot buy an expensive tank right now in the middle of a tourney season. this sucks soo bad. 2 thumbs down to whoever screwed us over by not telling us before hand. ahhh now i need to do something about this.....

I'm actaully in the same positon. I don't have the funds for an ajustable tank and I'm unsure as to which preset to get. The only thing I can think of is to get the 800 psi preset 88ci 4500 psi and get a centerflag doolie or some cheap 80 dollar reg. Maybe even a thor but it looks like the doolie is smaller. Only prob with the doolie is that you have to buy a drop forward or cradle to attach the doolie to your gun. *sigh* I wish the minireg could have supported 800 psi.
HMMMM
what if you swapped the mini reg for a AKA or torpedo ?good flow and LP plus u can use any tank on them.

what about the nitro duck xstream, they go for about 250 and are adjustable, and they are high flow, I love mine.

"The British lad at WDP's booth in Las Vegas at the NPPL told me that you can put any preset tank on the new Speed. I ran mine with a macdev conquest set at 650psi. I know that it is running perfectly with a preset screw in tank at 800psi right now on my friend's marker."
You may want to pick up that preset 800 psi after all

if there is any type of conflict with the new mini regs and the preset tanks shouldn't it be outlined in the new manual? And if you cant use a preset with the new mini reg is there any type of spring replacement type deal or upgrade to let you use the preset?
