i just got a new fly and bought a tank before i found out that you have to use low pressure on the fly. i have a dxs 68/4500 hp. My question is can you convert a high pressure tank to a low pressure one and how?

probably be easier to just put a new reg on the angel. or do the minireg mod.

i also heard you could remove some of the pressure shims from inside the tank regulator does this work and if so how many shims do i remove?

you really shouldnt mess with your tank reg like that. they dont all operate like that. you could do exactly the opposite and blow something up in your marker. or worse your hand. plus most lp regs are designed differently. the air passages are usually bigger to obtain a higher volume. even if you changed the operating pressure you would probably be starving your marker.
do a search for how to mod the minireg. that does involve flipping or removing a shim in the spring stack.

another option is to buy a low pressure reg for the tank. a guerrilla air lp reg costs $45-55 depending on the model (ambush/assault) which would replace the existing reg and they work great. I just replaced the minireg with an evil detonator regulator and it works awesome. I picked up my reg new for $26.00 on sale.

i believe the old bulldog tanks had shims you could remove to raise and lower the tank output pressure... im not sure (they were junk anyways), so you are best off just buying a new regulator for you tank.. personally im a big fan of Centerflag... but Crossfire's are easy to fix seeing as they seem to be at EVERY event (at least they used to be),

There is a kit that you can buy to replace the shim assembly inside the tank regulator to make HP tank into LP and it cost me only $25. The whole assembly inside the regulator were replace except for the piston that stickin out on top of the threads and walla!!! my 68/4500 HP PE is now LP with a 500 psi output pressure. I found the kit at a local paintball store and boy what a relief. It would have cost me over a $100 for a good used tank.

I have exactly the same problem. Bought a PMI Pure energy Fibre wrap 68cu 3000psi for my cocker. Sold the cocker and bought the A4 FLy and now I have this problem where I am too scared to attach the air to it.

I have turned my mini reg all the way down. Will chrono it either today or tommorow.
Also I have a WGP 2002 Stock Reg. But you have to remove the end cap to chrono it every time. Or the Macroline.

I have read about the mini reg mod. However it is not garuanteed to work. It just lessens the pressure on the stack springs. Which allows for lower adjustments. But in the long run it's better to get as new reg.

Best thign I have heard........put your HP tank on.....chrono it.
If it's under 300fps. Then you are set and ready.
If not........you need a new reg or new tank.

I am trying mine out today and will let evertyone know.
If I do decide to go the Mini Reg mod way....i will take pictures of it and post it here.

i actually did the shim mod on my tank, it's an 88 4500 pure energy. I tokk the reg apart, and flipped one of the shim's. The tank now works flawlessly with my G7 Fly and A4 Fly.
