so i was thinking of taking my g7 fly into the the machine shop at my school(yeah im still there one year to go woooo) anyways i just wanted to what is the most i could take off with the milling machine before one of two things happens 1.it cant get re-annoed when im done and 2 it cant no longer support the pressure.
i just dont want to go to far and have a hole in the gun so what is the max i could take off
thanks

where do you want to mill on the marker. dont touch the 2 lower tubes. the only area you could probably mill safely would be the rear upper (solenoid) area and the breech.

have a good look at the exploded diagrams in the manual to understand where everything is and where the gas galleries are.

i was thinking of taking some off the back where the seliniod is(top and side if possible) and the breech. how much could i take off the breech theres about a 1/4 of an inch of metal on the back end of the breech then slowly gets thinner as you move towards the front of the gun. i mean i guess if i want to get the most wieght loss i would mill the top till its totaly flat all the way across the top. but then i wouldnt look as cool. plus it would'nt even take that much weight off. i dont unless it can be made to look cooler and still take some wieght off with out breaking anything i'll just keep it how it is.

i have seen a guy mill a cool looking slot all the way through the side of the breech exposing the bolt. looked hella sick. and it still functioned well. you could do the same thing to the noid area. would be similar to the way the c&c's and dark ir3's were milled. if you milled off the top all the way to the back it would look like a standard g7. which actuallly would look pretty cool. and plus you would have a g7fly that nobody would recognize. any ways take some pics when your done hacking up your marker lol

Whatever you decide to do, I'd recommend doing a practice run on a cheaper Angel or some gun where you don't really care if it doesn't work when you're done. I'd hate to see a perfectly good G7 Fly go to waste...

you could also take some off of the back of the bottom tube where the battery is.

so i could could mill off the sides and some of the top of the breech till i could see the bolt and it would still work?

yea the one i saw had slots milled all the way through the sides of the breech. you could see the bolt moving when it fired. looked sweet.

think of it this way it'll be around $500-600 to get it milled and annoed the way i want it so lets say if i did mess it up used g7 flys are going for around that price right?
anyways i like the idea of that it sounds really cool. i dont think i would want to expose the seliniod though. i'll measured it out and i would mark for the cut at 1/2in up the side of the breech(up and down) and a 1/4in from the side(left to right) and then just go through the top each hole would be 1/2in wide and about 3 1/2in long . after that i would mill off a three lines on the side of the gun in the front where the barrel feeds in to the gun.
now is there anything i should do like sanding or polishing so when i send it in for anno it is preped and there wont be any extra fees?

you just want to make sure that all your edges are knocked down clean

yeah thats what i was thinking just getting everything nice and smooth with a file. but other than that does that seem to be ok as far a measurements go?
one more thing is there anyway i can take the breech off the gun just for the milling so i dont have to take everything in with me?

ok so i found out the basics on how to take it out which is taking out the srews on the front of the gun that sit on the edge what i dont know is what side to take out or what to do after taking the screws out.

once the grub screws are out you need to pull both the front and back breech rods to remove the breech.

ok and the grub screws are the ones in the front and the behind the back plate right? is there a good way to remove the rod with out breaking anything
thanks

I don't think the backplate covers the grub screw you are talking about for removing the breech rod.
The breech rods are threaded on the end as well, or at least they used to be. They were threaded the same as the screws that used to hold the solenoid in place, so if you have an older Angel laying around you could use those. The other option mainly seems to be using a small allen key and inserting it into the threading and pulling while putting some uneven side pressure on the hex key so the end grips the threads.
