i've been tring to learn all i can about the speed and some of it's future upgrades. :puzzled: well i've heard that wdp will be releasing, in the next year a upgrade that replaces the whole board in the speed and puts in all the lcd screen w/ all the goodies. has anyone else heard that, maby it is some false info, but that would shure be cool and i know i would be the first to get it.

I bet they will come out with a LCD board for it. They went from a microswitch to opticle on the ir3s. It will be money tho
ya but if the did that then it would be an Ir3

not really kase of all the low pressure stuff inside, there'd definitely b an advantage to having the speed internals instead of the ir3 internals

I doubt WDP will do that. Besides, if you want an LCD screen, just buy an IR3 and wait 'till they retrofit the Speed internals for the IR3.

Ive heard that they wont be able to fit in ir3s. The airpassages are different I guess. IT would cost atleast $300 to get eh speed internals anyways.

No, Speed parts don't fit in IR3's that's why I said wait for the RETROFIT. If they retrofit them to the IR3's (which they have said that they are consdering) then the parts will be made specifically for the IR3. And where do you get $300 for parts from? That's a random figure that you threw out, let's wait until we get some kind of estimate on the cost of the retrofits if and when they come out.

chris from cobra told me at vegas that u can take a speed board and put it in a ir3 so im pretty sure u can put a ir3 board in a speed

I wouldn't doubt they'd come out with it. IMO I could care less. I think the LED is fine, none of those un-needed features that jack the price of the marker up so high. The retail price for an IR3 is like 1400, you can get one for around 1000 now I believe and a lot of that went to the LCD cost. I mean seriously, do you really need a vibrator in your gun?? The refs tell you when the time is up, and 5 minute warnings and such. Also, why buy an IR3 then get the retrofit parts "IF" they come out? Just get the Speed, its performance minus most of the un-needed stuff for a better price. When I save up the money I will be getting a silver Speed. In the beginning I wanted an IR3 C&C Royal Blue, but after reading up on the Speed I will definately be getting one of them instead.

strangelove- Its a pretty good figure to look at. All of my internals went to ****. The ram assembly, lpr and valve were all bad. Lucky for me, it was under warrenty. The tech told me that if it wasnt under warrenty, it would have costed me $250 for all of the internals. Fun fun? Now, add a little more to that price because they will probably have to mill down something on the inside and just because it will be an upgrade. I say the retrofited parts will cost about $250-$300.
If you think about it, it would cost you more to machine and retro fit the speed parts to your iR3 than it would be to buy a speed body.
However it would be most advantageous to purchase, and drop in any parts that will fit into your iR3...hint

huh... thats a good idea... im sure that you don't NEED the extra space for the air... so it'll have some of the things to make it preform different like the ram and stuff like that... so it may be a nice thing that will change the preformance of the IR3 to be similar to the speed... let me get mine soon and i'll give you a rundown of what can essentially be slapped in an IR3 without any major modifications.. or stuff that could possibly be altered a bit.... ok?

I doubt the possablity of a lcd board for the speed, mainly because of the voltage difference on the board. The speed only use 4.5 volts, no i bet an lcd takes more power than the lcds. So there for they would have to change the battery design.

umm, i doubt that the lcd board requires over 4.8 volts, ever use a basic caclulator? the solar power cell provies like 1 volt i think, and still powers the LCD display.

yeah but a calculator isnt complicated like that. It has no backlight or scrolling text, and the IR3 board has a lot more characters in the screen, if you know what I mean. Plus that vibration and temperature stuff uses power too. I am sure WDP would have used the very minimum voltage to power that board, to get the battery to be small enough to fit the gun, yet power the gun for a decent length of time as well.

I see the SPEED with an LCD as the next logical step. I'd buy it too. I like the so-called extra features. But I also don't see them releasing it any time soon, it would be dumb to. Ride the wave of the SPEED and don't kill off the IR3 just yet...
