I bought the Blue/black fade back in August, and i want the expanded barrel kit for the Angel 1. It says it comes in Velvet black only, is that the finish i have? I am not sure, but i only read about the velvet colors months after i purchased mine, so i think the velvet was brought out after mine, so would the barrel backing looks really dumb on my gun?

The WDP site doesn't list any fades for the velvet finish... only gloss and dust, so yours must be dust.

It's a tough call. I have a velvet ice A1 and the barrel backs that came with the gun were black, but I do not know what finish they are. I beleive that even though my gun is velvet that my included barrel backs are dust because I bought the barrel expansion kit and the barrel backs that came with the expansion kit are a little more "flat" finished than the ones that came with my gun. I could be dead wrong... maybe they're just slightly different because they were made at different times.

I'll try to post a picture tonight of the difference in the finish between my 3 included backs and my 3 expansion backs.

True... as crown said, I don't think there's all that much different in the dust vs. velvet finish.

Here's a comparison I made before between dust and velvet in the ice color... IMO you can't even tell the difference between the two in a picture.

The reason you cant tell the difference in the picture is that you do not have the exact same camera, with the exact same lighting, in the exact same position. I have both the dust barrel and the velvet backs. the velvet is equivalent of flat black spray paint and the dust is best represented by a semi-gloss paint. thus dust=a little shine, velvet=no shine.

Cool thanks guys, and Crown i was unaware of the difference in the two, so i wasn't sure they were that similar. That's why i asked, it would be kind of silly if the front of the barrel, and my gun was noticably different. (Without thoroughly looking at it)

hey thats my gun!! haha the ice dust one. nice comparison btw. the only difference is that dust has a little bit more shine to it than the velvet. the velvet is more of a dull color...
