i saw it yesterday in IMAX, thought it was pretty good, my persian friend was like wtf coz the spartans have 8-packs and the persians are freaks haha

i went in not knowing it was based on a comic book, if you look at it from a historical perspective you will be depressed (i did some studying on sparta in history class a couple semesters ago /shrug) if you expect it to be based off of a warped comic book then the movie is awesome... lots of digital imaging though... and the Persian king (im not even gonna try to spell the name... Xerxces or whatever) kinda seems a little fruity but its definitly a good movie if you want blood guts and gore :) and inbreeding... inbreeding comes in a few times... dont ask ROFL

inbreeding has been a common theme in greek history for centuries. The Oedipus complex is based on a Greek Tragedy.

Greeks were also known for their love of small boys, there's a reason that a certain sexual term is referred to as "greek" lol.

Oedipus complex is based off the Oedipus Rex play, killed the father and married the mother accidently, cant forget the electra complex either ;) and yeah the whole small boy thing is known... they just went way way way overkill in the movie.... come on those "monks" at the Oracle sight /shudder haha

I thumbed through a few pages of the 300 graphic novel the other day. The comic is a complete storyboard premade already. All the dialouge and images were directly transferred into the movie.

I saw it tonight. Not too bad. I'm more of an action and fighting junkie so I would've like to seen more of that. I guess that's why I'm addicted to paintball too. Everybody was telling me how good of an action movie it was, so I expected to see a lot more. Don't get me wrong. It is definitely a good movie. I didn't know it was based on a comic book though until I just read this thread. I was kind of turned off by the obviously heavy use of CG at first but after awhile I didn't even notice it. It also probably helped the comic book affect too.

There were some difference. But yeah for the most part, your right. I just liked how they added that one scene, where they find all the villagers after the attack of the Imortals. That wasn't in the comic book.
