View Full Version : Difference between Velvet and Dust? And your preference?
So I'm new to the angel family, and I'm wondering if there is and what the difference is between velvet and dust colors. Also, which do you prefer? Does Velvet=Gloss? Thanks
Velvet seems to have a little more "sparkle" to the finish than dust. Gloss is definitely not velvet. My Gloss Black A1 looks like the anno is still wet.

Other way around actually, dust has lustre and appears deep, velvet is not as lustrey and is fairly flat, polished is like liquid and is very deep and smooth.

Bleda is correct. As for preferances...its all opinion, we will all have our picks. I love my glossy JD, but my brother has a velvet blue that is just beautiful.

The Rage is velvet. The Joy is gloss.

To be honest, I'm not convinced that there is an actual difference between the dust and velvet. I'd really like to see two in the same color side by side.

There is a HUGE difference between velvet and dust. Not even close in the amount of shine, depth, and lustre.

I don't know about "huge"... you can't tell the difference from a picture so I don't know how you can say the difference is "huge". Until someone from WDP, someone that has two A1's in a different finish, or until I see two with my own eyes I'm not convinced there's an actual difference.

Thats a really bad picture to try to see the difference from, its too fuzzy and the lighting is horrible. Also Ice is not the greatest color to compare as its trying to look white. If you look at like red, blue, or olive in the sun or good lighting you will realize that velvet is a flat color, it isnt shiny. Dust has shine and sparkle that make it stand out. I was reff'ing world cup i got to see velvet compared directly to dust and its also been confirmed before when velvet came out that it was not a dust finish.

dust=not fuzzy looking
velvet=fuzzy looking (hence the name velvet)
Alright cool, thanks for clearing it up for me all. Feel free to post up YOUR personal preference! From the sounds of it, seems like I like dust better.
